At stay and play on Monday 23rd May 9.30-11am we will be exploring blocks and colour!We will have the foam blocks to build and balance, the coloured sensory blocks to explore, stacking and sorting blocks and getting messy with duplo painting!
Sadly this will be our last session for a while as we focus on more new starters to the nursery - we would like to thank all our families who have joined us and we have loved seeing all the little ones grow and develop, we will let you all know on here if we restart our stay and play sessions in the future!
We are exploring lots of different colours at stay and play on Monday 16th May!
We will have the sensory light table with the sensory bottles, fun finding the coloured objects in the shredded paper and getting messy with the colourful edible paint!See you all there 9.30-11am 😀

We are exploring nursery rhymes this week with the soft blocks to make Humpty Dumpty’s wall, nursery rhyme books and soft toys, exploring the different animal sounds for down in the jungle and lots of messy play!

We are so proud of all our Preschool children taking part in the Easter bonnet parade and sing song today! They loved showing off their bonnets and singing all the songs - thank you for coming along and joining in with our songs too 😊
We are looking forward to our stay and play session on Monday 25th April. We are exploring different textures with shredded paper play, textured cars and books. We will also be having fun with the paint to create St. George’s flags and lots more! See you all there 9.30-11am
Hope you all have a lovely Good Friday!Heres some of the photos for our April Farm on Wheels visit earlier this month. Its lovely to see all the children growing in confidence with the animals as they watch them grow! We got to see the very first egg the hen laid, we saw how much the chicks had grown from the last time we saw them and we loved holding the baby bunnies and Guinea pigs! Lots of the children have been asking for Stella to bring a cow to the nursery and they finally got to meet Bluey the calf! We can't wait for our next visit.
Just a reminder that as it’s the Easter holidays there will be no Stay and Play for the next two weeks - we look forward to seeing you all soon 😊

Last week in Preschool our topic was Green!
We celebrated St Patrick's Day, painting four leaf clovers and searching for gold coins in the spaghetti! We discovered some new flavours, trying green foods for snack including sugar snap peas, cucumber, green paper and kiwi!
We followed instructions to make potato and spinach cakes! They were very different but we listened really well and worked hard to make them!
The weather's looking good for tomorrow - nice, dry and warm - with a gentle breeze - but we don't mind that after some of the recent stuffy weather!

Earlier this month we enjoyed celebrating the Kings Coronation by having a tea party in the garden altogether! We started off with some singing before the children shared a high tea with all their friends from babies all the way through to Preschool!
Children enjoyed creating and decorating their own crowns to wear which they loved showing to all their friends too and lots of children wore red, white and blue 😀

In Woddler room we have been focusing on the Kings Coronation, we have had red, white and blue activities out with glue and sticking the United kingdom flag. We have create bunting from ice painting watching the colours melt onto the paper. Woddlers have also made crowns from yellow hand prints to wear at our garden party.

During the week we have also had a lettuce tray to explore textures and sences, in the tuff tray we have had play dough using tools to create patterns and shapes. We have also used free from porridge oats and green objects to create marks to look like caterpillars.

We have been celebrating the Kings Coronation.
We enjoyed stirring and pouring ourselves a tea in the garden. We enjoyed mixing the paint over cling film to mix, red, blue and white paint together. We also did a hunt in the garden for the kings crown . We have enjoyed creating our own crowns and a crown for our board in toddlers do sticking.

Our theme in babies is to celebrate the Kings Coronation. We started the week glueing and sticking to make paper plate crowns using red, white and blue coloured tissue paper. We also enjoyed exploring rice and the children were also able to explore the texture.

Last week in preschool for our growth topic we have been looking at seeds and how they grow. We have planted our own plants choosing from a variety of different seeds. We have also planted some cucumber plants looking at the different stages of plant growth.
We have also been celebrating the kings coronation, having a tea party, making biscuits and creating decorations.

Over the duration of April and May woddler room are learning about the story book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we have painted paper plates green and red to create a big caterpillar on the display board. We have glue and stuck fruits shown in the story, we have explored textures by painting our hands to create hand print caterpillars. In the tuff tray we have used different objects in the room to create a sensory caterpillar.

This week in toddlers we are looking at spring animals, on Monday we enjoyed created a chick, painting and sticking onto a paper plate.
We also enjoyed exploring the pigs in the 'muddy puddles'

On Tuesday we created our own chocolate rice krispies cake, mixing the chocolate in with rice krispies to look like 'mud' then placing an animal biscuit on the top.

This afternoon we held our Pre School Stay and play session.
It was great to see parents and grandparents come along and get involved in some of the fun and messy activities we all do at nursery.
During the Spring and Easter themed session children, parents and grandparents got to plant seeds and bulbs alongside the children. Please keep us updated with how they are growing by putting some pictures on Tapestry.
We all got a little messy painting beautiful pictures of flowers.
The water tray was great fun emptying, filling and pouring the yellow water and using sensory items such as lemons, basil and flowers.
Well done for sharing your Easter Bonnets with us that you made over the holidays, what great bonnets you made.
A big thankyou for coming to the stay and play session we hope you all enjoyed it.

While exploring the theme of animals and pets our Toddlers visited Maidenhead Aquatics to see the fish.
We looked at the colours of the fish and watched in awe as they swam around, we listened to the sound of the water in the tanks.
All of us got to feed the fish some food and watched them all swim towards us as we put the food into the water.
A big thank you to Maidenhead Aquatics Newport for letting us visit and see their beautiful fish!

This week toddlers have looked at pets, during circle we enjoyed looking at our friends pets and recognising our own pet.
We have enjoyed exploring the fish in the water tray.

We have looked at different pictures of cats, then used pencils to practice drawing my own cat.

On Tuesday we made our own bread, we enjoyed mixing and making the dough, and watching it turn into bread.

This week in preschool for our final week of dinosaurs, we are focusing on fossils. We made our own fossils using salt dough, pressing dinosaurs into the dough and looking at the different features, once they were finished we went digging in the wild garden to see which fossils we could find, pretending we were archaeologist. We have also been exploring in the oats and lentils looking for skeletons and fossils, using the magnifying glass to look at the different features and looking at what makes them different

We have continued our topic of dinosaurs. We have enjoyed reading one of our friends dinosaur encyclopaedia, learning lots of facts about some of the largest dinosaurs!
We have developed our mark making skills through writing letters in sand and have focussed on our ponder grip using tweezers.
We celebrated the start of spring with some spring flower water play! 💐
At the end of the week we had a visit from Stella from Farm on Wheels! She brought us lots of animals including some lambs and a donkey!

This month in woddlers room we are celebrating St David's Day. We have used yellow tissue paper to stick on daffodils. We have used crayons to mark make daffodils and we have also painted daffodils using paint brushes. In the tuff tray we have had real daffodils with tweezers and pots. Individually we have explored yellow gloop using our hands to feel textures. We have also had cloud dough using free from ingredients.

On Thursday we celebrated world book day! The staff dressed up as our favourite book Dear Zoo! We have read the book throughout the day. Woddlers have used different coloured paint to create the animals out of the book. In the tuff tray we have set up the animals out of the book to create a zoo theme.

This week in preschool we have started our new topic all about dinosaurs and this week we have been focusing on carnivores. We've learnt the difference between a carnivore, herbivore and an omnivore and done lots of different dinosaur crafts
This month we have also celebrated St David's day looking at the Welsh flag and had a go at following instructions to make our own Welsh cakes.
We have also celebrated world book day and we think everybody looked fantastic! Thank you for celebrating world book day with us and bringing lots of different stories for us to read!

This month in Baby room we have been celebrating St David's Day, we have made hand print daffodils with yellow and green paint.

Our theme has been humpty dumpty, we have used fabric eggs connecting them together to create a cup and egg. We have explored gloop with animals creating marks and patterns.

On Thursday we celebrated world book day! Where we all dressed up and took lots of photos, we also read the stories brought in from home.

For world book for we have spent time reading lots of different stories.
On Monday we focused on the gruffalo, creating our own gruffalo with the play dough and exploring the gruffalo tuff tray.
Tuesday we looked at the very hungry caterpillar painting egg boxes to design a caterpillar.
Wednesday we looked at paper dolls, drawing faces and decorating our own paper doll.
Thursday for world book day we created our own book cover and enjoyed talking about our costumes.
Friday we looked at the bear hunt creating our own walk through cover, using glue to stick different materials on the paper.

Parking
Can I please remind parents to park in the garden centre and walk round when dropping off and collecting from nursery.

The planning department have reminded us that we are not allowed to use the area in front of the nursery for parking.

The gates to the garden centre will be open before 730am and until we close.

This week in woddler room we have been learning about pancake day! In the tuff tray we have had flour and oats with pots and pans. Yellow play dough to create pancakes with rolling pins.We have also had tissue paper sorting into pancake shapes. Woddlers have been creative with painting pancakes, glue and sticking on paper plates and Mark making with crayons.

This week in toddlers we are exploring trains, we have spent time creating our own name train, recognising each letter to spell our name.
We have also spent time exploring the seasonal train tuff tray.

On Tuesday we made our own pancakes, taking turns to mix all the ingredients, we practiced flipping with bats and balls in the garden. Once cooked we then decorated our pancakes with chocolate chips and bananas.

This week we have been reading the story three little pigs and we have also celebrated pancake day.
As we learnt about the three little pigs we looked at how we could built different house using different materials such as straw, wooden blocks and sticks. We have also looked at the foot prints a muddy pig and wolf make to see how they're different and played a game chasing the pigs under the parachute each taking turns

To celebrate pancake day we help make the batter and looked at the different ingredients we need to make pancakes. After watching Jess flip the pancakes we chose lots of different toppings to enjoy on our pancakes. Yum yum!

In Baby room we have been exploring the colour red. We have been making Valentine's day cards for our families. We have been creative with paints, we have made love bugs from our feet, red free painting feeling textures. In our mirror and tuff tray we have explored red objects and red materials. We have also been on the soft play climbing and rolling around.

In woddler room we have been looking at Valentine's day! Throughout the week we have been very busy creating cards for our family. In the tuff tray we have had a red/ pink sensory tray, red playdough creating love hearts with cutters, flour and oats using our fingers to create flowers. Woddlers have been creative with paints creating pom ppm pictures on paperplates. Glue and sticking tissue paper onto hearts and we have been painting our feet to create love bugs.

This week we have focussed on two stories! Goldilocks and the Three Bears and The Billy Goats Gruff! We focussed on the number 3, the three bears and the Three goats!
We have done lots of creating and making this week. We enjoyed creating goldilocks using materials found in the preschool craft area! We have her blonde hair and two eyes! We also create the troll using green paints and paper plates. We gave him scary faces and big teeth!
We organised the goldilocks story using a story map, identifying some of the keys parts of the story! Alongside this we mastered sizes, looking at big, medium and small. We put these in order and matched them to the three bears!
We followed instructions from Sharn-A on how to make cloud dough, we did this using baby oil and cornflour and mixing together! It was lots of fun!
We looked at some different bridges from around the world and created our own using the blocks inn the construction area!

We celebrated Valentine's Day on Tuesday! We made our loved ones a card and made some heart shaped oatmeal cookies!

In toddlers, we are looking at cars, we have enjoyed spending time in the water tray, creating a carwash and washing the cars.
We have also enjoyed spending time creating lines with the cars in the mud.
We created our own number plates finding our names , using chalk, crayons and pencils to colour it yellow.
We created our own traffic lights by gluing and sticking, we also spoke about how we stop on red and go on green.

This week in Toddler room we have been exploring tractors. We enjoyed baking our own haybale bread by mixing and squishing the dough. In the water tray we enjoyed spending time washing the tractors and talking about what parts on the tractor we are washing. We enjoyed sticking and gluing different textured materials onto our own tractor.

We have had a busy week in preschool! We have been reading the story The little red riding hood. During this week we have been creating cinnamon rolls for little red riding hoods basket to take to granny house and having lots of picnics in our home corner exploring a variety of different foods. We have been practicing our cutting skills and copying patterns from pictures from the story.

This week we have also had a visit from the farm seeing all the different animals and learning how to take care of them.
Preschools favourite animal was 'bluey' the cow 😃

This week in woddlers we have been looking at dinosaurs! In the tuff tray we have had green scented playdoough, flour and spices, sand and dinosaurs creating marks. We have also been very creative with painting dinosaurs, Mark making with crayons and hand print dinosaurs. Woddlers have also been making splashes in our water tray with the star links.

Our topic this month is journeys
This week we are looking at planes
We have enjoyed using the wheels on the planes to do paint rolling onto paper.
We have also enjoyed looking out for planes in the garden and pretending to be a plane.
We created our own paper planes, recognising our name and Tracing over before having a plane race in the garden.
Friday we created our own passports and have been looking at fingerprints we enjoyed creating our own finger print shortbread.

In preschool we have read the story Jack and the Beanstalk! We have enjoyed making beanstalks using lots of different materials! We used the role play area to stomp like giants and climb up the tallest beanstalks! We developed our pincer grip using tweezers to count the broad beans into the number pots! Some of us loved popping them out of their outer shell and discovering the textures!
We followed instructions with Harriet to make bread, we weighed out the ingredients and molded the bread into long beanstalks, even added on some leaves too!

In woddler room we have been looking at Chinese new year, this is the year of the rabbit. We have been Mark making with crayons to create pictures, we have been painting paper plates to create dragons, we have also been gluing and sticking Chinese lanterns. In the tuff tray we have been using chopsticks with sand, flour and oats to create marks. We have also used tweezers and pom poms to pick up and put into pots.

In babies we have been looking at Chinese New year! In our tuff tray we have explored Chinese writing with sand and spoons creating marks. We have also explored the colours yellow, red and gold to create patterns. Babies have also been gluing and sticking Chinese lanterns and and using cotton wool and paper to create a rabbit as this year is the year of the rabbit.

Preschool have been reading the story The Princess and the Frog! We started the week getting to know the story, looking at the different characters! We have enjoyed lots of craft, making frogs, crowns and tiaras and even following some instructions to make origami frogs!

In baby room we have been very busy with all our Christmas crafts. We have glue and stuck pom poms on to stockings. We have also painted our hands green to create a wreath on paper plates. We have been exploring different coloured baubles and a variety of sizes. We have been stacking towers from shiny objects.

Babies we have been exploring lights. We have light up cubes that change colours, and sensory light up toys. We have also been listening to sounds with musical instruments through banging and shaking them on the floor. We have also been finishing off our Christmas craft ready.
