Not quite the end to the academic year planned with Haberdashers’ Adams house athletics cancelled due to weather ☔️ and catching Covid 😷 🦠

I will though be looking forward to working along side The Creation Station Shrewsbury and Telford again as part of the HAF programme at Brooksode Community Centre later in
August.

Wishing all my school colleagues and Headstart children a fabulous summer holiday and see you all again in September ☀️🤞 🤸‍♀️

Last Monday of the academic year done! 9 schools booked in for the first half term back which is fabulous. Had a brilliant last session today delivering the Headstart programme as part of Haberdashers’ Adams outreach programme. 🥰

Following on from my last post I received such a lovely message from the Deputy Head which I thought I would share. 🥰

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you . The work you have done with the children has been invaluable and the children have enjoyed it immensely.
We are sad to say goodbye to you (for now) as you feel like part of the Millbrook team.
Once again, thank you for the hard work and support you have given our children. I hope that our budgets will improve providing us an opportunity to work with you again”

This was my final session with this fantastic group of children (after a year together) due to more cuts to education budgets. They were as sad as I was to say goodbye 🥲

“extra- curricular activities give young people the confidence to interact socially with others, extend their social networks beyond existing friendship groups, and provide them with new skills and abilities. Some also perceive them as important for their long-term career aspirations as well as useful in building stronger university and job applications.
Above all, young people see extra- curricular activities as a chance to have fun, unwind and relieve the stresses of their increasingly pressured school lives” - Social Mobility Commission

Policies are all well and good, but you need the funding to allow them to be put into practice. Let’s hope the next government provide vital money to schools to allow clubs such as Headstart to run.

I had the privilege of helping out at the third annual Primary Schools Sports Festival at Haberdashers’ Adams this week. 200+ year 5 and 6 pupils from 10 local primary schools competed with Lilleshall school taking first place. Well done to everyone who took part on what was the hottest day of the year so far!
So lovely to see so many past and present Headstart children being involved.☀️🎾🏆🏅☀️

It may not feel like summer 🥶 but I’m back teaching reception children at one of my schools and what rays of sunshine they all are! ☀️ 🤸‍♀️ ☀️

Happy happy day it’s the holidays! xx I’ve had a brilliant half term being in 8 different schools and only one half term left this academic year. Crazy how quick it’s gone 💛

After an afternoon at Haberdashers' Adams sorting Netball for next season whilst the students are on exam leave, I get to do my fav thing 😍 ☀️

Two weeks ago I had the privilege of escorting the 1st & 2nd team from Haberdashers’ Adams to the Haberdashers Schools Netball tournament held at Monmouth Girls.
Our girls played some outstanding Netball with our 1st team being crowned overall champions. A fabulous day with fabulous Netball and team spirit on display from all who took part 🏆 🥇🏐 ☺️

Had a marvellous couple of days working for Telford and Wreking HAF programme. Wishing you all a very Happy Easter and holiday 🐰🐣💐

Super busy this half term being in 8 different schools which I am absolutely loving. Here is another montage from one of my primary schools. I have now run Headstart in over 25 of Telford and Wrekin primary schools. The need to develop emotional and physical wellbeing with young children has never been greater. On Wednesday Haberdashers Adams’ played at Wolverhampton Grammar School’s annual Christmas Netball tournament. Our first team were runners up and crowned overall fancy dress team winners with the best individual fancy dress awarded to Father Christmas! lots of fun was had by all. 🏀🧑‍🎄 👼 🌲 🦌☺️

Wow - this seems so long ago!
I have now run the Headstart programme / sessions for 37 different schools and businesses!
I love my job and all the children and people I have had the privilege to work with along the way xx Thank you all xx 🤸‍♀️ 🥰
