Towards the end of the summer term we held our annual Sports Day.
Once again it was a great success with a number of school records being broken. It was also the first time we had a cow and Spiderman taking part!

School will be open as usual to all pupils, including sixth form, at the usual time next week. External temperatures are predicted to drop to 26-27 degrees, and some cloud is expected.
Pupils should continue to wear either Academy PE kit or relaxed school uniform (shoes, trousers/skirts, shirts and a tie) until the end of term. Please ensure that your child brings a water bottle to school.
House Arts has been re-scheduled for later in the week, so as to avoid external examinations taking place on Monday and Tuesday.

Summer Savings
Rising prices can make life's little treats harder to afford, especially during the school holidays when costs build up for families. This Government is determined to help, and that is why last month the Chancellor announced the Great British Summer Savings scheme.
From 25 June to 1 September 2026, the Government is temporarily cutting VAT from 20% to 5% on children's meals in restaurants, children and family tickets to cinemas, theatres, concerts and exhibitions, and admission to a wide range of attractions. Combined with free bus travel during August for children aged 5 to 15 in England, families and young people will be able to enjoy experiences that make summer special, including visits to the kinds of cultural and educational attractions that enrich children's lives outside the classroom.
As part of this campaign, there is an attraction finder website which allows families to type in their postcode and find participating venues near them to make the most of summer savings. To use the attraction finder, please visit https://summersavings.gov.uk

Students will be arriving from 6pm

The academy will be closed to pupils in Y7-9 on Friday 10th July 2026. This is not a decision taken lightly, however continued high and increasing temperatures and humidity in much of the school building are now compromising our ability to ensure the safety and welfare of our community. Pupils in Y10 should come into school as normal, they can be accommodated in the cooler classrooms. They should continue to wear relaxed uniform or PE kit and bring their water bottles
We are sorry for the inconvenience and disruption that the closure will cause, and you will know that we have absolutely tried to avoid doing so but the safety of our school community is paramount.
