โ ๏ธ IMPORTANT MEDICAL INFORMATION โ ๏ธ
โ๏ธโ๏ธ WE ARE A NUT FREE SCHOOL โ๏ธโ๏ธ
We need everyone to be aware that we have children in school with SEVERE nut allergies.
If someone has a nut allergy, it is not just eating nuts that can cause a severe reaction - just being touched on the skin or smelling the breath of someone who has had nuts or a product containing nuts can trigger an allergic reaction, which can cause breathing and swallowing difficulties. In severe cases, it can be life threatening.
We cannot have nuts in school in ANY FORM, so please do not put any nut products in your childโs lunch box. This includes sesame seeds or products containing sesame seeds and chickpeas or products containing chickpeas.
There are many products which present a risk, so please check the packaging of items. We know that a lot of products such as cakes say โmay contain traces of nutsโ and generally these will be fine.
Chocolate spreads that have 'nut' on the label generally contain around 13% of nuts (this is shown on the ingredients list). We CANNOT allow children to have these spreads on their sandwiches as they pose a serious health risk to anyone with a nut allergy.
We understand that some of our children enjoy chocolate spread sandwiches and therefore we would ask you to ensure that you use a chocolate spread that isn't labelled as a 'nut' spread. The ingredients label may say 'contains traces of nuts' but these spreads are fine.
We appreciate that this is an additional thing to check but we are sure you will understand and recognise the importance of it. If you have any queries or would like to check any products, please get in touch.
Thank you for helping to keep our children and school safe.
BACK TO SCHOOL - TUESDAY 3 SEPTEMBER!
Thank you to everyone who has shared messages and photos during the holiday, it's been lovely to see the children having so much fun! ๐
We hope you have all enjoyed the summer break.
We are really looking forward to seeing everyone and welcoming all our new children and families to Haughton School on Tuesday.
LABELLING BELONGINGS
Can we please remind all parents/carers to label ALL uniform and belongings, including coats, bags, book bags, lunch boxes, water bottles, P.E. and swimming kit etc. As you can imagine, it is extremely difficult to return property without a name!
We will be sending some updates home during the first couple of days, which will include details of your child's P.E. day and confirming which classes will be swimming this term. P.E. kit can be sent into school on Tuesday and will be left on your child's peg. This works well in case we have to change P.E. days for any reason. There is no swimming the first week back.
Please remember that our page is not manned during school hours so if you need to contact us during this time, please telephone: (01952) 387540 or email: [email protected].
If you need to contact Telford & Wrekin transport dept, the details are:
Telephone: (01952) 384545
Email: [email protected]
If your child is absent for any reason, please telephone the school office on 01952 387540 before the start of the school day. If you are ringing very early, please leave a message on the school answer phone. Alternatively you can email [email protected]. We cannot accept any absence messages passed on via transport providers.
MEDICATION
Can we please remind you that medication must NOT be sent into school with your child or put in their school bag. All medication (including inhalers) must be brought into school by an adult and handed in to the school office. This is to ensure that all medication is recorded and stored safely and securely. A medication form must been completed in order for medication to be administered.
SETTLING IN
Try not to worry if your child feels a little anxious on Tuesday, it is to be expected. Lots of staff will be on hand at the front door as soon as the children arrive to welcome them and to show them to their classrooms. ๐
We have lots of lovely activities planned for the children and we are all looking forward to a fabulous first week back!
If you'd like to send us a 'first day' photo of your child on Tuesday, we'd love to share them!
Thank you - see you soon!
Alfie had fun at Bridgnorth looking at the caves, he also enjoyed a walk to the park and a bike ride with Mum to some bike tracks! ๐
Laura had fun creating a blanket fort and she then watched a film in it! ๐ฐ๐ฟ๐ฝ๏ธ
Harley enjoyed joining in with the street performers at Drayton Manor and had fun going on lots of rides! ๐
Jake cycled all the way from Ironbridge to Bridgnorth and back this week - totalling 18 miles and smashing his previous record!
Unfortunately Jake had a mishap and picked up an injury on the way, but Dad said it didn't phase him one bit, he got right back up and carried on!
Well done Jake! ๐
