💙 It all began with a vision…
In 1980, special education teachers Anita and Paul Brown bought Overley Hall, bringing 20 years of experience and a shared ambition to create something truly special.
At the time, there was a growing need for specialist education for children with autism and learning difficulties. Anita and Paul wanted to create an environment where children could feel at home, be understood as individuals and have opportunities to learn, develop and flourish.
From those beginnings, Overley Hall has continued to evolve.
Over the decades, new learning spaces and facilities have been introduced, from Forest School and a purpose-built school building to spaces dedicated to music, outdoor learning, independence and wellbeing.
Yet through all that change, the heart of Anita’s original vision has remained: to provide a nurturing specialist education where every pupil is valued for who they are and supported to take their own steps towards greater independence.
More than four decades later, Anita remains actively involved in Overley Hall School, and the values that inspired its beginnings continue to shape school life today.
