Starting a new role can feel like a big step 💭

At Wellingtonia, we support new team members through a structured 6-month onboarding period, with time to learn routines, understand our ways of working and build confidence alongside experienced colleagues. 👉📋

Clear care planning is central to this. Each young person has a Positive Support Plan and individual risk assessments, helping staff understand their needs and preferred ways of being supported. We use joined-up approaches across care and education so staff feel supported and young people receive consistency throughout the day.

Once probation is completed, staff are enrolled onto relevant qualifications to support their development and progression 🤝🌱

An update from the Woodlands sensory garden 🌿

At the start of May, our Woodlands residents completed a 2.5 mile sponsored walk to raise money towards the development of their sensory garden. Thanks to their brilliant efforts and everyone who supported them, an incredible £1,120 in total was raised.

We’re now starting to see the garden come to life, and we’ll be sharing updates on our stories as the space continues to grow 👨‍🌾🪏

Some of the planned areas include a beautiful flower teepee and a herb garden, with more features to be announced. A huge thank you also goes to Littlefords Garden Centre for their generous support, which included donated plants, canes for the teepee, and a fantastic discount on our purchase.

It’s wonderful to see the results of everyone’s hard work taking shape, and we can’t wait to share more as the garden develops and grows throughout the year 🌱

Ranking our enrichment spaces: rainy day edition 🌧️

The outdoor areas lost a few points for muddy shoes and coat requirements, the Farm Shop scored highly for life skills and its lovely bike outside, and soft play may have won by a landslide thanks to the swing.

At Overley Hall, enrichment is about more than keeping busy. These spaces help pupils explore, communicate, build confidence, develop independence and enjoy meaningful moments throughout the school day.
