Sometimes Home Ed is late night typing as your 10 year old dictates, because instead of sleeping they have invented new chapters of the story they are working on and don't want to forget it 😅

Wow Autumn is already creeping in isn't it! Feeling the transition...how do you share the seasonal changes with your children?
We love a little walk, even just round the garden, to explore the changes around us, children tend to notice the small things- a leaf, a raindrop, a small bug. They absorb their environment around them.

A couple of balloons from day 2 of Telford Balloon Fiesta. The Play Tent was busy all day - so many lovely families came to play, feed and chill out with their little ones 🥰

Just printing off some colouring pages for the Balloon Fiesta. In Montessori, we don't often use colouring pages; the preference is to provide materials that are open-ended for the child to create as they choose.
The only time I tend to use colouring pages is
a) following a child's interests
b) occasions such as the Balloon Fiesta, where seeing the balloons in real life can spark an interest, the colouring pages provide a chance to enjoy art around this interest, build skills, and make a take-home that can spark conversation around their experiences

I am sooo excited to be at Telford & Wrekin Culture and Events Balloon Fiesta this weekend! It's such a good event, with loads to see and do. I will be there all weekend with The Play Tent - providing a space for families with young children to take a break, play, change and feed baby 🥰 come say hi 👋

Having a HUGE clear out of my Education materials to make space for my ever-expanding collection of materials for the Montessori Rainbow 🌈 😅 today's big task was to sort through my books - I've condensed down and am rehoming over half my collection! Many left over from my degree, or well read parenting books. I hope they go to good new homes that will find them as useful as I did!

A family trip into Wellington today...swimming followed by The book-ends , followed by The Little Green Pantry The Little Green Pantry . I love that we sought and found a community for our family - where we can play and chat with the local businesses, who become friends. K could t wait to read her book and S drew with chalk outside the pantry :)

A tree climbing kind of day. Both of my children and I , are calmest when in nature 🌳🌿

Review: I've been looking for a small moveable alphabet
(I have the large one but it's challenging to transport between groups)
So, of course, ads started popping up following my searches 😅 this one popped up on Temu, and I thought I'd give it a try as I hadn't found an affordable wooden version. It cost about £13.
It's good! It is a perfectly effective time for home use, though I'm not sure how long it will last in groups, as the letters are foam and not the best quality; some are squished. I like that it was available in the Montessori colours that highlight vowels and consonants, and in lower case- this can be hard to find. I also don't like the coloured border around the whiteboard, so I'll replace that with a plain one. It came with whiteboard pens and capital letters - I've removed them to isolate the skills of the material, but I will use them in different lessons.
Overall a great value and effective material.

Small business shout-out! It's been a while since I've done this! Shout out to for their amazing art classes, they have some cool summer sessions over the holidays...well worth booking in! (Soren here is a bit little but was joining in woth K's class 😅)

When we give young children independence and time...they will often try and master skills themselves. Toddlers especially are wired to learn new tasks in mastery of the world around them.

"Never help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed."

*Note I would normally provide child-size cutlery, but we were out and about!
