12 years ago I posted this. I began working with children 20 years ago, and later developed the dream of Earth School 🌎 working in this way, making a difference in children's lives, has always felt like a calling rather than a job.

And one of my center themes I try to inspire in children is following their own passion. Following your passions means your work is meaningful, true to heart and I believe it makes the world a better place ❤️

Next week is our first of the new monthly Home Ed Social!

This is a very relaxed, inclusive social for all ages, with crafts, board games and seasonal activities.

First Wednesday of every month, starting 7th October. Jackfeild Village Hall.

Both drop off and parents staying is available (parent time to socialise too!)

Parent staying: no need to book, can pay on the day in cash or bank transfer, or message for payment details in advance. £7 per child with snacks/drink included and all craft and play materials .£2 per extra sibling.

Drop Off: must be booked in advance £15 per child, £5 per extra sibling

DBS, safeguarding and paediatric first aid trained facilitators)

After yesterdays post about the local community center up for sale with lots of comments suggesting crowdfunding... I had this 'memory' pop up.

It's from when I crowdfunded one of my Montessori courses (one that funding wasn't available for). The dream is still there and evolving. A sign perhaps that crowdfunding is the way to go!

So now my questions are:

🌎What platform or way can I crowdfund and fundraise a LARGE amount of money on? Something that can be running long term not just short like gofundme.

🌎Does anyone want to work with me on the administration side of things?

What a wonderful class this was. Talking about one of my favourite subjects, brains and learning! Thank you for having me Home EdVenturers , looking forward to the rest in the series!

Today was the opening class in our block of "how do our brains work" with Earth School Education

Today's class gave an overview of how our brains understand literacy.
Reading, writing, and comprehension, investigating the ways ADHD, dyspraxia, dyslexia and other neurological differences can impact learning.
We heard about successful, famous people with neurological differences, and how they embraced their differences to succeed.
We all learned how to make the most of the brain we have, with different learning styles.

Also, how to appreciate the "Brian" we have

Now this site would be IDEAL for Earth Schools home. A Community Learning Center that would offer alternative drop off provision, a range of classes and clubs for all ages, and workshops for parents and professionals about education.

However the price seems very high (and I certainly don't have it)...but I'm wandering if anyone can advise about similar places we can become custodians of and develop under a community group, taking care of the space as well as providing space and activities for the community.

Today I delivered one of the favourite lessons I've ever done... A class designed to explore what learning is, how our brains work, different brains and finding how each person learns best for their unique brain 🧠

It was such an informative and interesting class...so much engagement from the group of learners!

I'd love to deliver this again to more audiences... So if you're interested in doing this for a group let me know!

I have long believed mainstream UK schools need a big overhaul. And this certainly won't fix all the problems, but is a good concept and I hope it comes to fruition.

Beyond that so much more needs to be done, and still, school isn't for everyone and there are amazing alternatives like Elective Home Education and Alternative Provisions.
