Fire service cut person out of car

It could be you! For most people who get cut out of cars, they are having a relatively bad day, but Amber Watch at Wellington Fire Station are offering a seat in a car that will be chopped up with you inside it as a prize.

If you would like to enter the competition, head over to: https://www.facebook.com/search/posts/?q=amber%20watch%20wellington

The cutting out of the idiot is just one of the attractions at Wellington Fire Stations open day taking place on Saturday 5th of August. Not one to miss.

There is no truth in the rumour that the second prize is being doused in petrol and having kids throw fireworks at you.

A big thank you to all of our Dothill children, we are really lucky to have each and eveyone of you at our school. You make us so proud!! You have worked hard and achieved some great things this year.
Thank you to all the parents and carers, for your continued support. Working together for your child really makes a difference.. Also, thank you for supporting school events, homework and everything else that we ask of you.
Finally, a huge thank you to all of our staff who day in and day out work so hard to give our children the best start in their education journey. Our staff often go above and beyond, and for that we are extremely grateful.
To our year six pupils, you have been amazing throughout and you are going to be greatly missed. You really are an awesome bunch of children who have made us all beam with pride watching you grow!! We know that you will rock secondary and continue to do your best.
I hope you all have an amazing summer doing whatever makes you happy. It would be lovely to see the sun making an appearance over the next six weeks.
We look forward to hearing all your wonderful stories in September. Enjoy. Mrs Harvey 😀

Here are a few pictures from the whole school picnic lunch today. What a lovely way to end the year with everyone outside togther. However, it was cut a little short and we had to make a dash for cover as the rain decided to make an appearance.

This week, year 3/4 children went on a grand adventure around Dothill Nature Reserve.
We followed a trail until the trail was no more… there was certainly excitement and a sense of adventure in the air.
The sun was shining, we found frogs, crickets, and some spiky purple plants!!
All the children had a great time exploring their surroundings and we even discovered evidence to support our science topic this term of ‘how a plant grows’ including methods of ‘seed dispersal’.

A fantastic end to the Summer term 😊

Some of our EYFS children have made fantastic castles at home as their home project. Well done – they look fabulous!

Photos from Dothill Primary School, Telford's post 20/07/2023

Despite the rainy weather, Year 3/4 were lucky enough to squeeze in a ‘mini sports day’ yesterday afternoon.

As the weather held out, we all went out and we all had a fantastic time. We are SO proud of all the children, each one of them demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and teamwork skills. Everybody got stuck in and there were constant smiles across the field 😊

We set up a range of activities including relay race, javelin, skipping, football dribbling, beanbag in the hoop and hoop co-ordination.

This half term, the children in EYFS have been working hard at home to complete their Numbots homework each week. You’re all Numbot superstars and we’re really pleased with you all!

Today, we had a visit from the Wellington branch of the Rotary Club. They were kind enough to present all of our Year 6 children with a fantastic dictionary, which will be incredibly useful to them in the coming years. Each dictionary has a page for signatures, which they were keen for their friends (and teachers) to sign. What a lovely thing to be able to look back at! A big ‘thank you’ to the Rotary Club on behalf of the Year 6 children.

Ready, set, read!

Using a library is one of the 10 worthwhile and eye-opening activities Telford & Wrekin Council wants local children to try and do before they are 10, as part of the 10 by 10 programme.

The Summer Reading challenge starts from Saturday 15 July 2023 and is a great way to keep your child(ren) reading and to introduce them to a library.

Getting involved is simple. Visit your local library and ask to join the challenge. Once children have read six books and collected golden stickers along the way, they will receive a medal and certificate.

Children can read any books in any format, fiction, non-fiction, picture books, audio books, eBooks and eAudio books via Telford & Wrekin Libraries’ Libby App.

The challenge finishes on Saturday 16 September 2023.

If you’re coming to see Plastic Pirates in the next couple of days, you’re in for a treat! Year 5 and 6 did their dress rehearsal for the whole school today and it was just wonderful! Well done to all involved - children, teaching team and parents. The costumes are brilliant and the performance was outstanding.

Inspired by Andy Goldsworthy (a British artist) and his passion for looking after the environment, the children in EYFS worked collaboratively to make ‘under the sea’ collages using plastic waste they bought in from home. They had a great time creating these and I’m sure you’ll agree they did a fantastic job!

A HUGE thank you to 'The Friends of Dothill' for organising our Sunmer Fair. We appreciate all the time you put into the planning, preparations and the organsation that takes place before the event. Also, thank you to all the parents and staff that helped out today. It was great to have so many volunteers for setting up, running stalls and tidying up at the end. A real team effort that meant our children and families could have an enjoyable time at the fair. 😀

Today, Year 6 went to Crucial Crew 2023 at TCAT. They learnt about a range of things – healthy lifestyle choices, fire safety, road safety and being streetwise. During the day, the children are scored for their behaviour, participation and manners. Despite the good behaviour of the other schools, we came away with the trophy for overall winners and one of our children was singled out as being the best individual at the event. What a fantastic achievement for Dothill (and thoroughly deserved)! They were a credit to be with, as always.

The children in EYFS enjoyed showing off the reading skills they have been learning in Read Write Inc to their friends in class, when they practised reading individually and then with a friend. Their teachers also asked the children to go home and impress their parents too, as they continue to practise their reading at home each day with an adult.
