Recently, as part of our PSHCE enrichment, year 8 and 9 students experienced a wonderful performance and mental health talk by Joel Foster from the Prime Agency π§
Joel talked about his personal experiences being thrust into the limelight on The Voice at a young age and the mental health journey he has been on since. Along with his incredible live performances at HLC, our students (and staff!) were bowled over by his talent, sincerity and kindness β€οΈ

Music enrichment πΌ
We were lucky enough to have Ben from in to lead a fantastic singing workshop as part of our music development πΆ
Students from year 7 to 11 experienced an afternoon of singing joy including games, warm ups, technique and working on Bohemian Rhapsody from We Will Rock You The musical π€πΌ
HLC performing arts team are currently rehearsing for our production of We Will Rock You which will be held on 3rd & 4th March 2025 at the .severn in Shrewsbury! Look out for ticket information on tutor notices towards the end of term πΈ
Local community π«±πΎβπ«²π»
Over the past term, weβve been so grateful for the incredible support from our local community! A massive thank you to everyone who contributes to what we do here at HLC. π
Weβve received a generous donation of uniforms from Tesco, supporting students in both HLC Secondary and Primary. And earlier this term, Harry and Dan from Tree Man Specialists kindly delivered 2.5 tonnes of woodchip for our Secondary Garden project, helping us create a fantastic space for our students to learn and grow. π±π
Netball and football wins π
Our year 9 and 10 students kicked off the TWSSA netball winter league with an undefeated win for both teams against Holy Trinity, Madeley Academy and Charlton. They played fantastically, repressed HLC with pride and continued to develop their skills and tactics throughout the games! βοΈ
Congratulations to our Year 8 boys football team on their fantastic 7-0 victory against Idsall, securing their place in the next round of the Telford Schools Cup! The boys delivered an outstanding team performance, with special mention to the Year 7 players who stepped up to play a year above and contributed brilliantly. βοΈ
Well done all, we are so proud of you! ππΌ
Remembrance Day πΉ
Today students who are part of the Army Cadets, Air Cadets and Scouts paid their respects at the Hadley Cenotaph along with our 2 minutes reflective silence remembering those who fell in honour and appreciating those currently serving πͺ

The Year 9βs visited RAF Shawbury and learned leadership skills and got to experience what role air traffic control play in the RAF βοΈ
The year 8s visited RAF Cosford Museum and worked on communication and team work skills as they designed equipment for landing on the moon and clearing asteroids π©οΈ
Visiting artist π¨πΌβπ¨
Y10 Art and Design GCSE students had the opportunity to work with visiting artist Ian Murphy in a one-day workshop π¨
They got to learn about composition and shading techniques and try out some mixed media processes that Ian uses in his own work. The students had a great day and left feeling very inspired ποΈ
Careers fair π
We had a wonderful after this week with various companies, sixth forms and colleges visiting HLC for our high aspirations for the future π«
Thomas Telford School Sixth Form, Schneider, The Wrekin Housing Group, Crossbar, West Mercia Police and Telford College were amoung the 50 stalls we had set up for students and parents to explore. π

Year 9 netball team success π
Congratulations to our Year 9 netball team who won the TWSSA plate tournament! They played fantastically and represented HLC with pride. It has been amazing to see their skills develop from strength to strength over the last 3 years πͺπΌ
The team played against Ercall Wood, Holy Trinity, Abraham Darby, Madeley Academy and Burton Borough and came out winning overall by 4 points. Well done, we are so proud of you! π
Year 10 textiles π°
Recently our Year 10 students enjoyed a mixed media workshop delivered by artist Jennifer Collier. Their work was in response the mini coursework project on the theme of birds π¦
Students chose media personal to them such as music, travel, cartoon strips, superhero, industrial, flowers and various others πΆ
They even had the opportunity to use the lighting studio to photograph final pieces πΈ
