My son and I have made our own cereal box eclipse viewer using these instructions so we can safely view the eclipse: https://www.countryfile.com/how-to/how-to-make-eclipse-viewer

The next total eclipse in the UK will be in 2090!

🌞 Planning to watch tonight's solar eclipse?

A solar eclipse will be visible this evening, with the eclipse starting at about 6.14pm and reaching its maximum at around 7.10pm, when around 91% of the Sun will be obscured. The event will end at approximately 8.03pm.

Please remember never to look directly at the Sun, even during an eclipse. Looking at the Sun without proper protection can cause permanent eye damage.

To view the eclipse safely, you can use:
πŸŒ‘ Eclipse glasses that meet the international safety standard ISO 12312-2:2015
β˜€οΈ A simple pinhole projector. Find out how to make one here: https://orlo.uk/vvcfT
πŸŒ™ A kitchen colander, which can create a similar pinhole projection effect

If you're hoping to catch a glimpse of tonight's eclipse, make sure you do so safely and enjoy the spectacle.

It's lovely to see our flag on display in St. George's Parish Church. Maureen, our chair of governors, came up with the great idea for our school to be represented in church with a permanent flag on display. One of our year 1 pupils helped Mrs Blair with the final design which holds our biblically-rooted school vision, 'Love each other as I have loved you.'

🌊 Water safety saves lives. As we head into summer, it’s vital that children, young people and families understand the risks around water and how to stay safe.

Over the last five years, 3,615 people have tragically drowned in the UK and Ireland. Help your family stay safe around water.

Learn the Water Safety Code:
βœ… Stop & Think – Check for hazards, read safety signs, and only swim in designated areas
βœ… Stay Together – Never go near water alone; always supervise children
βœ… Float to Live – If you fall in, relax, float, and control your breathing
βœ… In an emergency – Don’t enter the water, throw something that floats, and call 999
βœ… At home – Secure pools, empty water hazards, and learn CPR & swimming
πŸ’§ Drowning is preventable. Share these tips and help keep everyone safe.

Being able to swim is an essential life skill, Telford & Wrekin Council Leisure offers swimming lessons for all ages and public swimming session at pools across Telford.
