Wow! What a great week in school having been able to invite so many parents and grandparents into school for four Special Mentions assemblies. Very well done to all the children who received a certificate. I wonder who will get one next time?

We wish you all a very safe and happy half term break and look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday 1st November.

Unfortunately we continue to have issues with our school phone lines this morning. Sorry for any issues this may cause. Please email [email protected] if you need to contact us. Many thanks.

Some of our school council went to the official opening of the new play park at Marrion’s Hill in St Georges yesterday. Although bit of a damp morning, you can see they had a great time!

We would like to say a huge well done to all of the children who took part in our Sponsored Read as part of our Reading Challenge Week! We are so very proud of all of you for doing such fabulous reading and listening 😊 Thank you so much to all of the parents and carers for your support with this…. we raised a fantastic grand total of £967.20! We will be using the money raised to buy lots of brilliant new books for the children to enjoy in the classroom and at home.

Reminder: children are asked to wear red clothing tomorrow if they have it. School uniform if not. Thank you 😊

Well done to all of the Year 2 children who received a head teacher's award in their reading diaries this week. Mrs Sixsmith was so pleased to see how hard they have been working at home. 😀

We are currently experiencing issues with our phone lines and are hoping this will be fixed as soon as possible. Please email school if you need to contact us on [email protected]

Free activities for 8 – 16 year olds this half term

Urban Games is a free multi-sports programme offering physical activities for kids to get involved with this October half term. From BMX biking and skateboarding to multi sports sessions which include cricket, football, cricket, basketball and lots of others.

The sessions are hosted by professional coaches from AFC Telford United and Wrekin Riders BMX club, and there is something for everyone at a host of venues. Best of all, they are completely free and have been funded by Telford & Wrekin Council’s Safer and Stronger Communities project.

Please note, BMX bikes and skateboards are available to use, but kids are welcome to bring their own.

The Safer & Stronger Communities project aims to tackle concerns around neighbourhood safety and to also look at longer term solutions through social groups that can support and engage people of all ages and backgrounds.

Leading the investment with £2m, the council is working in partnership with the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) John Campion who is also providing a further £500k.

Full details are available on the Urban Games website. For more information about the Safer and Stronger Communities Project, visit the website or contact the Safer & Stronger Communities neighbourhood coordinator via an email to [email protected].

Our Year 5.6 boys’ football team put in a superb display despite losing 3-2 to a talented John Fletcher team in the Shropshire Cup this evening. That’s it for sports fixtures this term, but after next week’s half-term holiday, there will be lots of opportunities for boys and girls in a variety of year groups to represent our school.

Our Key Stage 1 Indoor Athletics team represented our school brilliantly this morning at the Telford and Wrekin School Sport Partnership competition coming in 3rd place overall 🥉The children equally loved being transported to and from the venue in style by a minibus. 🚐They also looked so smart in their sports competition t-shirts sponsored by St Georges Sports & Social Club

Lots of Year 1 children received a head teacher’s award in their reading records today for regularly reading at home. Mrs Sixsmith is super proud of the effort the children (and their grown ups at home!) are putting into reading. Well done everyone. 😊

Massive thanks to St Georges Sports & Social Club for sponsoring our new sports competition T-shirts. A group of our Key Stage 1 children will be wearing them for the first time tomorrow at the Telford and Wrekin School Sports Partnership Indoor Athletics Competition.

We are currently experiencing a few issues with our phone line, please contact the office on the email below.

We regularly talk to the children in school about careers, ambition and having goals in life.

We would love to hear from ex-pupils who would be happy to share what they have achieved after leaving us.

Please post here or email us at school at [email protected]. Thank you! 😊

The children enjoyed learning about Bob Marley in assembly today and sang along to some of his songs 😊

Today was Coach Jacob’s final session of rugby and reading as he is going on to begin his career in quantity surveying. Jacob has been such a positive role-model and he has had such a positive impact on our children. Jacob’s sister will be taking his place as our new coach so we still be in very good hands. Thank you so much Jacob, our staff and children will really miss you. Best wishes for the future ☺️

Our Year 5.6 boys’ football team lost 2-1 to Priorslee in the last 16 of the Telford and Wrekin Schools’ competition. After the game, the boys were still in great spirits as playing with your friends and creating memories is just as nice as winning. ☺️

This may interest families looking for a bargain!

Too Good To Go

Thank you to all the parents and carers who were able to attend parents’ evenings this week. We were thrilled with such a high uptake for appointments and staff all said how great it was to be able to meet face to face again. 😊

Thank you to staff and governors for raising £137 for Macmillan. We do need to confess that rather a large amount of cake was involved! 😊🍰🧁

At St George’s we believe that being able to tell the time is a very important life skill. To assist us with our teaching of telling the time, we would like to encourage any children who own an analogue watch to please wear it to school. Please do not feel pressured to go out and buy one if your child does not own one though. We have also invested in a number of additional analogue clocks that have been placed around school. Thank you so much for your support. Please note that Smart Watches are not allowed to be worn in school for safeguarding reasons.

Bikes 4 kids

We are working with a local charity called Bikes4kids.

A local charity based in St Georges, they help people to access bikes and cycling. They take in bike donations, repair them and distribute them back out into the community to those in need. If you have an old bike sitting in the garden or shed that you have been thinking of getting rid of, please bring it into school and Colin (founder of the charity) will give it the TLC it needs and pass it on to somebody in need. You can find out more at

We enjoyed listening to Stevie Wonder songs in assembly yesterday and learning about his life. Did you know he signed his first record deal at the age of 11? The children were amazed at his musical talents but also the work he does to support people around the world with disabilities.

Last week we held the first of three after school bike workshops.

A group of Year 1 & 2s put on their helmets and learned how to get on and off a bike. They learned how to pick up and put down their bikes and how to use their brakes. They practised pushing their bikes using their feet and practised their balance. They were amazing!

A group of KS2 children learned all about bike maintenance. They learned 'ABCD' which is a pre-ride check routine that everyone should do before riding their bike. ABCD stands for: Air, Brakes, Chain, Direction. After this, the children were then introduced to the different tools that we could use for bike repairs. There were two bikes set up with 5 faults. The children had to work in a team to figure out what the faults were and then select the correct tool for the job. A huge well done to all of the children involved. Excellent conduct throughout the session and they asked suitable questions.

We are able to offer NEW groups of children the same experiences on Wednesday 19th October and will send out an email on Wednesday this week. Please note, only children who have NOT attended the first session can put their names forward for session 2 on the 19th. Each child can only attend once as we have very limited numbers. Should we not fill the paces in session 2 and 3, we will then open it back up for children who came to session 1.

The third session will be held on Wednesday 2nd November, again for NEW groups of children.
