Next week (week beginning 25th September) we will be holding our bi-annual local History week in school. This is to help our children gain a better understanding of the local history of St George’s. This year, the week will have a Geography and History focus. During the week, all children from Year 1 upwards will be learning about the changes over the last 80 years. We will be comparing our school to a school in B**g in Nepal. Mrs Sixsmith will lead an assembly about her experience when she visited this school in Nepal, which will be really interesting for all of the children. The children will also be having a walking tour with their classes to find some key buildings in St Georges. Finally, each class from Nursery to Year 6 will have a visitor who will talk to them about their experiences of living and working in St George’s. We hope that this will be an enjoyable week for the children and that they learn lots about our local area!

Are you a parent or caregiver of an Autistic child who is looking for ways to support them in Social situations?
If you are you might be interested in attending our Let’s Talk Autism – Social Stories Interactive Session.
Social stories are a brief description of a situation, event or activity which includes specific information. They are designed to be easily understood and help the child/young person prepare for and understand social situations that can be difficult or confusing for them.
For Autistic children/young people, social stories can be helpful because they provide structure and predictability in social situations that may be overwhelming. By attending Let’s Talk Autism – Social Stories Interactive session you will learn about the different types of situations where using a social story may be beneficial and how to create them based on your child’s individual needs and strengths.

We will be raising the profile of mental health on Tuesday 10th October by holding Hello Yellow Day again in school. Children are invited to wear yellow clothes on the day. If they have a whole yellow outfit, that's great, but it can simply be that they wear their usual school uniform but add a yellow hair bobble or yellow socks. If your child would prefer not to, they can come to school in their uniform as usual. Please do not go out and buy yellow clothes especially for the day!

Each week we introduce a word, song and question of the week to all the children in school. We then let parents and carers know what they are via Facebook and our website so that you can chat at home about them.
This week...
Word of the week: Forgiveness (which is our new school value). In simple terms, we have explained that when people forgive, they are kind to those who have not been kind to them.
Question of the week: Who do you know who is special and why?
Music of the week: Sweet Symphony by Joy Oladokun and Chris Stapleton.
