Operating as usual
This morning Pre-school have been to the Fire Station and met Fire Fighter Lance. The children have learnt how to use the fire hose and put out the fires. We had a go at driving the Fire Engine, looked at the different uniforms they wear and heard how loud the sirens can be and the flashing lights. 🚒
Carnival day!
What an amazing day!
🌟The children worked so hard on all the decorations and characters for the floats. We had lots of lovely comments about how the work was all the work of the children.
🌟Thank you so much to all the staff for helping create the masterpieces and giving the children the opportunities to bring the Mr Men And Little Miss alive in their own way.
🌟The children were fabulous and the costumes and extra work at home was amazing. Thank you so much to parents and carers for supporting us and putting in so much love and time in to adding to the day.
🌟Thank you to Emma and Jake at Home Farm for providing us with the straw bales to keep our children safe.
🌟Thank you Ed at https://www.facebook.com/ceandesswolverhamptonltd for lending us your truck for the day and allowing us to make it into a wonderful float.
🌟Thank you Mark at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100069678016342 for being our very own Mr Grumpy and driving the truck for us.
🌟 Thank you https://www.facebook.com/newportshropshirecarnival and https://www.facebook.com/NewportShropshireTownCouncil for organising a brilliant day.
We had a fantastic day and for our first year we wanted the children to have fun and enjoy themselves. One of our Little Miss even made it into the Shropshire Star.
We won 2nd 🥈 Preschool and Nursery Float. An amazing accomplishment for our first year!
Congratulations to Kelsey (Miss Dolloway) and Chris on the safe arrival of Jonah!

Today we have had a visit from ‘The Farm on Wheels’. We were excellent listeners, and followed the instructions from farmer Stella. We have learnt about a calf, lambs, rabbits, chickens and chicks, and a rat. We stroked all of the animals, and fed the lamb his bottle of milk.
Today the Toddlers have had a visit from a tractor. They have enjoyed pressing the buttons and pretending to drive. We have used language of size when looking at the wheels. We have listened to the horn and watched the lights flashing. We used our physical skills very carefully to climb up and down the steps.
Preschool have had a brilliant first week celebrating Easter. We've looked at different Easter stories, made bunny ears. Used our cooking skills to make Easter nests. We have exercised with the Easter Bunny during yoga. Practiced our fine motor skills, making our own playdough egg and printing with Easter shapes. Then to end the week we had an Easter Egg hunt exploring the nursery grounds.
Today Preschool have made a Space cake using a range of ingredients and colours to represent the Universe. Preschool mixed their batter working as a team using their number recognition to weigh out the ingredients on the scales. Once our cake was cooked we used icing and sprinkles to add extra detail to our Space cake. Exploring Stars, Moons and Galaxies galore with a yummy taste.
‘Cosmic Kids’ Yoga with Toddlers
This week in the Toddler room our topic has been 'Our bodies'. We have had a look at our facial features using mirrors and then drawing our faces on a paper plate using our fine motor skills. We have looked at size using language big/little through drawing around each others bodies using teamwork skills. We have used our feet in paint to create footprints as a large group. We have had a look at how many bones are in our hands through using paper straws to imitate bones. We have used our scissor skills to cut the wool as hair on a ballon face.
Better late than never ... apologies, I forgot to post this!
This week the toddlers have been celebrating Chinese New Year and Pancake Day. We have tasted Chinese foods for snack such as prawn toast, duck spring rolls, noodles, egg fried rice, bean sprouts and prawn crackers.
On pancake day we tasted many different pancake toppings for snack from traditional sugar and lemon, chocolate spread, bananas, strawberries, syrup, and honey. We had lemons spoons and bowls in the water tray to practice our pouring and transporting skills.
We have explored a sensory rice tuff tray using coloured rice, chopsticks, and Pom Poms, soup spoons, and bowls.
We have had a look at the word dragon using Chinese writing through using our mark making skills in coloured sand to strengthen our fine motor hand muscles.
We then made our own Chinese dragon through moving in a range of ways under red paper working as a team to follow instructions in the inside and outside environment.
This week the babies have had two special celebrations. We have enjoyed pancake day activities and some valentines activities.
For pancake day we used the child safe knives to chop up some soft fruits. We had a go at chopping bananas and strawberries and ate these with our yummy pancakes, with honey and chocolate spread too! Yummy. We also got messy in a pancake themed tuff tray, using flour, sieves, bowls, spoons and lemons to explore with. 🍋🥞 🍌🍓
For Valentine's Day we used cardboard tubes shaped into hearts and used these to print with. We also had a go at making and decorating some yummy heart shaped biscuits. ❤️
Today the Toddlers have enjoyed exploring the outside environment through puddle splashing, and playing hide and seek using there physical skills to explore their natural environment. They demonstrated some very good listening and attention skills whilst turn taking through throwing and catching balls to their friends.
