Good morning
We have just taken a call from a concerned member of the public regarding the congestion and unsafe parking around school this morning.
We would like to remind our families that Hartshill is a very busy road and is also a main bus route. It is unsafe to stop and drop anywhere on this road and vehicles should not under any circumstances be stopping on the yellow lines.
The safety of our school community is very important to us and we have a duty to ensure that our families are not creating a hazardous environment for us and other road users.
We have requested some presence from our local Safer Neighbourhood Policing Team in the mornings to help and we would appreciate support from our families in parking considerately.
Thank you.

Introduction - Applying for a school place - Telford & Wrekin Council Information about applying for a school place online.
Dear Parents and Carers,
We thank you for your patience and understanding with the difficult situation we have found ourselves in. We are delighted to say that we are able to open school back up safely tomorrow. We have worked tirelessly with the Local Authority, the Health Protection Hub and Public Health England to ensure our school can re-open with the temporary reintroduction of tighter risk assessments and restrictions, alongside enhanced cleaning procedures and safety measures.
I am sure your thoughts are with the people in our school community who have been affected by a positive PCR test result. We wish them all a speedy recovery.
As Government restrictions were lifted and we went back to normal, it was inevitable that we would see a spike in cases. However, I do hope that you feel that as a school we have acted swiftly in the best interests of our school community.
As we have staff members who have been affected, and will not be attending school in the short term, your child’s class may have a supply member of staff to cover for absence. Please be assured that each class will have at least one member of familiar staff with them.
As stated this morning ,we have added additional temporary protective measures and we will be taking the following steps as part of our updated risk assessment:
• Face coverings will be re-introduced for staff and visitors to our site.
• One family member only to pick up and drop off the children.
• Class bubbles will be re-introduced.
• There will be designated lunchtime and playtime slots
• Social distancing will be reintroduced indoors where a 2 m distance cannot be maintained.
• Pick up timings as shared with you on Tuesday will be Reception to Y3 -3.05pm Y4-Y6 – 3.15pm. Please leave the school site promptly.
These measures will be temporary until we deem it is appropriate to go back to the “new normal” in line with the Government directive of the lifting of all restrictions.
Can we politely ask that you respect our need to restrict numbers on site and when dropping the children off, with the exception of Reception, please drop your children off in the morning at the entry point as normal and allow them to walk independently to their class line.
The playground markers are adequately spaced and there will be plenty of staff to assist the children. Drop off times are 8.30-8.40am. Please be prompt.
We are so looking forward to seeing the children back at school tomorrow.
Take care and we will see you all tomorrow,
Mrs Solomon and the Wombridge staff team.
Good morning parents and carers.
We hope that you and the children are all well.
Please see Class Dojo for today‘s learning.
I will endeavour to update you later this afternoon after we have received updated direct instructions from the Health Protection Hub.
We are hoping for to re-open some of the classes tomorrow depending upon the guidance from the Health Protection Hub. Unfortunately I cannot clarify which year groups at this moment in time, as we await further information.

The school has been thoroughly deep cleaned and I can assure you that it is to a very high standard, ready to receive the children as and when we are permitted to do so.
This is my most up to date information that I can share with you this morning and I will update you further when I am in a position to do so.
Please be assured that I am following the guidance and advice from the Health Protection Hub in order to keep our school community safe.
If anyone has problems accessing class dojo please mail [email protected] and we will be happy to assist with connecting you.
Take care and best wishes to all of the Wombridge School children and families.
Mrs Solomon and the Wombridge staff team.
If you have not been receiving our updates via class dojo or are unable to log on for home learning please email [email protected] and we will try to resolve any connectivity problems as soon as possible. Thank you.
We have just received confirmation that Wombridge will remain closed tomorrow. We will be offering remote learning via class dojo, and this will be set in the morning.
We hope you understand that this is a fast paced situation and that we are working within the guidance from the Health Protection Hub to support us as a school to help inform us of our next steps.
We will be in touch with any further updates as soon as we receive them.
Please accept our apologies and thank you for your understanding that we are following guidance to keep our school community safe.
Head Teacher Learning Challenge for today
Dear children,
As the new Headteacher at Wombridge I would like to find out what our school means to you.
Reception - Can you draw me a picture of our school and try to write your name?
Year 1 & 2 - Can you draw me a picture and write a few sentences about what you like about our school?
Years 3-6 - our school values are LEAD, learning, enjoyment, aspirations and determination. Can you tell me what those values mean to you?
As a challenge - can you research the Wombridge area and come up with a few interesting facts that you have found out about the area. Maybe you could make a fact sheet or leaflet for me?
Keep safe and well and your teachers and I will look forward to seeing your finished work.
Take care.
Mrs Solomon
Headteacher
Unfortunately due to a high number of staff positive covid cases we are unable to open Wombridge Primary School tomorrow (8/9/21).
We will work closely with The Local Authority and the Health Protection Hub and we will contact you as soon as we have clarification of advice. This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we totally understand that this will have an impact on you as families of our school.
We do hope that you understand that first and foremost we are putting the health and safety of our children first.
We will be in touch in due course to update you.
We will be unable to respond to any comments on this post or on our FB page regarding this matter.
We hope everyone enjoyed their first day of term?
Lunch today will be Penne Pasta Bolognaise followed by Apple Crumble and Custard. Chef Mark is working on the menus for the next few weeks and we hope to share them soon.
Tomorrow’s school lunch will be Quorn Dippers with potato wedges and baked beans followed by iced doughnuts. Chef Mark can’t wait to be back in the kitchen and cooking us lots of our favourite dishes.
We look forward to welcoming our pupils for the start of Autumn Term tomorrow morning - Monday 6th September.

We can confirm that the pupil in class 3 (Miss Nolan’s class) has received the PCR results which confirm they are positive. This means that parents of children who were asked to continue to isolate yesterday because they were in close contact will receive a phone call and/or formal letter via email which will give further information. Other children in the class do not need to continue to isolate. Thank you for your support.
Well that’s us done for another year! Thank you for all your support and great Facebook posts. We will be back on Facebook in September. Have a lovely summer everyone 😊

We have all had a lovely treat of an ice cream today to finish off the school year. Yum!
The summer raffle raised a MASSIVE £691.62!!! Thanks to everyone for getting behind it and making it a success. Your support is very much appreciated.

Class 4 have enjoyed watching The BFG and eating snacks with Mrs Orford and Mrs Mayhew!
Unfortunately we have had a Year 2 parent contact us this morning to say her child in Miss Nolan’s class has tested positive using a lateral flow test. We are very sorry but this means we will need to close Miss Nolan’s bubble today as a precaution while we pinpoint who the close contacts to the child have been. We would advise pupils in her class to begin isolating until we contact you again as soon as we can to let you know if your child has been a close contact. We will also need to wait for confirmation of the positive result from a PCR test. Please can parents collect their child as soon as possible.

Here are the top raffle prizes😀😀😀we are about to start the draw. Good luck everyone🤞🤞and a massive thank you for your prize donations and for buying tickets.
Don’t forget to buy raffle tickets! Last chance will be Friday at 9am 😊

Wow! Mrs Sixsmith's office is FULL of wonderful raffle prizes to be won on Friday when we do the draw! Thank you so much for all the donations of prizes brought into school last week.
If you would like to buy tickets, please send in money with your child to their class teacher in a named envelope. Tickets are 20p each or come in a strip of 5 for £1. Last chance to buy tickets is 9am this Friday.
Good luck everyone!
We know that lots of children will be looking forward to watching the football on Sunday night and will end up having a very late bedtime. If you would like your child to come in later on Monday, that is fine for this very exciting event!
School gates will be open as usual on Monday for the normal drop off times (08:40 to 09:00) but we will re-open the main side gate at 10.30am too and staff will es**rt children to their classes.
Please note, that if you choose to send your children in late, only do so at 10.30am. We do not have enough staff in the office to have children drifting in between these opening times. Thank you for your support with this.
Let’s hope we will all be celebrating a win on Sunday!
Mrs Sixsmith

Our local scout leader, Mr Steventon, spotted a baby mouse as he walked up the steps to the playground today. He carefully placed the mouse in a bushy area of the garden to keep it safe from trampling feet!

We would like to encourage all of our pupils to enter this competition at home. Good luck🤞
