Dear Parents and Carers,
On Thursday 1st October, we will be taking part in Census Day at school.
On this day, our school kitchen will be serving a special menu of hot dogs and burgers, and we would love as many children as possible to enjoy a school dinner.

Why is this important?
The number of children who have a school meal on Census Day helps determine some of the funding the school receives. This additional funding can then be used to support resources and opportunities for our children.
So, if your child would usually bring a packed lunch, we would really appreciate your support in encouraging them to have a school dinner on this day instead.

Thank you for your continued support.

🎈 Celebrating Birthdays at School 🎈
We know that some parents and children enjoy marking a birthday by sending in a little treat for the other children in their class. We recognise the lovely sentiment behind this and the excitement that comes with celebrating together.

However, due to allergy and food-safety requirements, we need to make some changes to how birthday treats are brought into school.

🍎 Healthy choices
As a school, we are committed to promoting healthy choices and encourage families to consider non-food or healthy alternatives when celebrating birthdays. A small bookmark, sticker or other little gift can be a lovely way to celebrate without introducing food into school.

If you do choose to send in a food treat

To ensure that we can keep all children safe:

Each child must receive their own individually sealed item.
Items must be shop-bought and in their original packaging.
The packaging must have a full ingredients and allergen list clearly visible.
We cannot accept homemade treats or items taken from a larger multipack where the individual item does not have its own ingredients and allergen information. For example, we would not be able to distribute individual cakes from a large box containing only one ingredients/allergen label.

🕒 When will treats be given out?
Birthday treats will only be given to children at the end of the school day.

This allows parents and carers to make their own informed decision about whether they would like their child to eat the treat, taking into account their child's individual dietary needs and preferences.

Thank you for helping us to continue making birthdays special while keeping the health, safety and wellbeing of all our children at the heart of our celebrations. ❤️

We will be holding a Macmillan Cake Sale on Monday 28th September at 3:10pm on the school playground.

All money raised will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support, helping them continue their fantastic work supporting people affected by cancer and their families.

In addition, Mrs Tomlinson and Mrs Dickenson are taking on an amazing challenge and will each be running 31 miles during October to raise even more money for this wonderful charity.

We would greatly appreciate any support you can give. Please come along to the cake sale and consider making a donation to help us raise as much money as possible for this very worthy cause.
