Year 6 have been working hard during this half term to develop their understanding of sequencing, mirroring and matching as part of their Gymnastic unit of learning. During the lesson today, they have applied their learning and understanding to perform a set of group balances and sequences.

Miss Payne’s class have had a fantastic week and filled their class jewels jar! We held a vote this afternoon, and the children have decided as a reward they would like a PJ party with a movie tomorrow afternoon- so please could children in Miss Payne’s class come to school in their school uniform and bring their Pyjamas/comfy clothes in a bag to change in to after lunch. Well done, Year 3!
What a Half Term of extracurricular sport we’ve had at Grange Park 😊
Over 100 different children have already represented a Grange Park Sports Team this Half Term and we have many more events already booked in for next Half Term.
We are really proud of the sportsmanship shown by all our children when representing our school teams, and whether we win, lose or draw, we are always proud of our children and the effort and skills they display.
Our School PE Twitter account is constantly updated with sports news and results. To view our school PE twitter account please click the link: https://twitter.com/Grange_Park_PE
Thank you to Parents and Children who donated money towards our 'Yellow Day'. We raised £173.53, which will be sent directly to the Young Minds charity.
Enjoying apples home grown in our school allotment.
Year Two have really enjoyed their art topic ‘Mix It!’ this term. They have been learning how to independently mix primary and secondary colours to create new colours and shades.
If you have a Parents Evening appointment this evening (or tomorrow evening) please can we ask that you enter via the red doors on the front playground.
Unfortunately due to staff absence, Stay & Play will not be on tomorrow.
We look forward to welcoming you back at our next session on November 9th!
On Monday, Reception went on a walk in our local area to find different signs of autumn. They were lucky enough to spot: beautiful leaves which had fallen from the trees, twigs, berries, a sneaky squirrel and even 2 acorn trees! The children worked fantastically in their pairs to tick off the different things on their sheet.
This week at Grange Park we have been celebrating Harvest. As part of this, we hoped to make a donation to Telford Food Bank. We are extremely grateful to be able to make another huge donation to the Food Bank again this year. A massive thank you to everyone who made this happen!
Our Y5s are having an amazing time in London! So many experiences packed into the three days!
Well done to our KS2 Sportshall Athletics team who on Tuesday competed in the T&W Championships.
The team were fantastic and won the morning session. We were confident they had done well in the overall competition, but we were blown away when we saw the results today!
Not only did we win the overall competition, we also won both the boys and girls competitions convincingly.
The school shield and medals for the athletes will be delivered to Mr James soon 😀
It's been a busy few weeks at Grange Park with all the sports events and we've had some amazing results so far. Please check out our dedicated X (Twitter) sports account for up to date Grange Park Sports News: https://twitter.com/grange_park_pe
Year 4 was super excited to harvest our remaining pumpkins and delicious, rosy apples from our school allotment.
On Tuesday, Year 6 went to Brookside Community Centre for a Black History workshop, where they took part in an African drumming session, made African themed crafts and tried different fruits. The children picked the drumming up really quickly and thoroughly enjoyed it – as did the staff!
While half of year five is away in London the rest are keeping busy! This morning we have made homemade lava lamps, created skittle art, and wrote our names in Chinese character letters!
The children in Miss Cartmail’s class have been exploring simple patterns in their maths lessons. Yesterday, they enjoyed copying, continuing and creating their own patterns using paint and shapes.
And they’re off! Have a fantastic time in London Y5! Thank you to Mrs Bickham (chief organiser!), Mr Green, Mr Reynolds and Miss Trevor for accompanying the children.
As part of Black History Month, 1RC have taken part in a Class Assembly where we learnt about the origins of Black History month and some of the important terms associated with Black History such as ‘racism’ and ‘enslavement’.
We discussed important questions such as ‘Why do you think Black History Month is important’? and shared out opinions as a class.
We have learnt about the life of Mary Seacole, her journey to help soldiers in the Crimea and her career as a nurse. We recognise that she was a significant historical figure because she overcame racial prejudice to help others.
Not the quietest cinema in the world, but the children are enjoying themselves! Thank you Mrs Latham-Reynolds and the school council for organising the event!
Last week, our school council delivered an assembly to each class to let them know what it was like being a school councillor and how other children can get involved in the work which they do.
The councillors were fantastic and spoke with such confidence! Thank you to all the school councillors who have been great ambassadors for the school!
Next week, there will be elections for the new school councillors for the rest of the academic year. Each child will get to vote and each class will elect their new school councillor. Good luck to all the children who are putting themselves forward.
On Friday we wore yellow to show our support for World Mental Health day. In 3AP we talked about how it is just as important to look after our mental health as it is our physical health. We created our own positive affirmation cards that included messages such as 'I am loved', 'I am proud of myself' and 'I am brave'.
Here are the photos of the year 5 pupils enjoying their Walsall F.C Match Day Visit on Saturday.
All the pupils had a great day. Before the match, they enjoyed a stadium tour and a coaching session on the 3G pitch.
Then we sat town to watch Walsall beat Gillingham 4-1 in an exciting, end-to-end match.
After the game, the children were lucky enough to meet some of the players and collect some autographs.
1RC have had lots of fun exploring number and addition sentences this week. We have been exploring whole-parts models practically and then using them to help us to write addition sentences.
We are becoming super mathematicians!!
To show our support towards positive mental health and wellbeing, 1RC wore yellow to raise money for Young Minds.
We talked about the importance of not only having a healthy body, but also a healthy mind. We talked about the different emotions we can experience and how they are all ok. If we are feeling an emotion that makes us feel uncomfortable, we know who we can ask for help.
We completed a range of activities, including:
• What makes me happy?
• Mindfulness colouring
• What qualities do I look for in a friend?
• Things I love about me.
On Friday, we celebrated Hello Yellow Day! Year 5 had a go at trying different activities to help with our mental health and wellbeing. They learnt some different Pilates moves, mindfulness breathing techniques and created some self-affirmation posters thinking about their own positive attributes.
Year 2 have really enjoyed joining in with Hello Yellow day and learning about how to look after their mental health.

This half term our theme in Reception has been “let’s explore” we have had a wonderful time learning all about different ways of travelling, talking about our local community and the wider world. This week to round off this theme we used ideas from the story “Great Explorer” and had a camp out, we used boats to travel across the sea, a parachute to help us land safely and skis to get across the difficult terrain. Our afternoon was rounded off with hot chocolate and marshmallows.
We can’t wait to see what adventures our next theme takes us on!
We have been asked to share the below posters with Parents/Carers.
Measles cases are rising across the country, with over 102,000 children starting primary school in England being at risk of catching the disease. Measles is highly infectious and if left unvaccinated nine out of ten children in an early years setting can catch the disease if just one child is infectious.
Two trips in two weeks! 3AP had the best time at Telford Town Park on Friday. We played football against the Year 4s, tried to master the hula hoop and went down the slides as many times as we could!
Class 4TB put their artistic skills to the test in Tuesday’s PSHE lesson. The children worked together to come up with a set of rules for working effectively as a team and create engaging posters that encourage other children to follow the rules they came up with! They discussed the importance of following our Grange Park values of kindness and co-operation when working as a team and included these in their final products. Well done Year 4!
Year 3 had so much on our Stone Age trip! We got to dress up as Neolithic Stone Age people, use flint to make tools and we even had a den making competition!
Year 2 have enjoyed learning all about Information Technology in their computing lessons and looked today at uses of IT outside of the home and school. They made their own ‘tins of food’ to sell in their shops and learned about bar codes, scanners and how information technology can be connected. They enjoyed role playing as customers and scanners.
Well done Year 2, you’d make excellent Supermarket Managers!
One of our Year 5 pupils had a great weekend with their siblings at the end of season dance weekend. Well done to you all!
Our School council have organised a fundraising event for Children to attend a cinema evening at Grange Park on Tuesday 17th October. (Please note this is for children in Reception - Year 6 only)
If your child would like to attend, you can purchase a ticket for them via ParentPay. The cost of the ticket includes a drink, popcorn and spooky snacks.
All money raised will go towards improving our playground.
Yesterday year 5 took part in a Shang Dynasty workshop. The children learnt all about the important events and people during the Shang Dynasty through drama and games. They were able to use the knowledge they’d learnt this morning into some excellent posters this afternoon!
