Well done, Year 3!

We are really proud of the sportsmanship shown by all our children when representing our school teams, and whether we win, lose or draw, we are always proud of our children and the effort and skills they display.

On Monday, Reception went on a walk in our local area to find different signs of autumn. They were lucky enough to spot: beautiful leaves which had fallen from the trees, twigs, berries, a sneaky squirrel and even 2 acorn trees! The children worked fantastically in their pairs to tick off the different things on their sheet.

Well done to our KS2 Sportshall Athletics team who on Tuesday competed in the T&W Championships.
The team were fantastic and won the morning session. We were confident they had done well in the overall competition, but we were blown away when we saw the results today!
Not only did we win the overall competition, we also won both the boys and girls competitions convincingly.
The school shield and medals for the athletes will be delivered to Mr James soon 😀
It's been a busy few weeks at Grange Park with all the sports events and we've had some amazing results so far. Please check out our dedicated X (Twitter) sports account for up to date Grange Park Sports News: https://twitter.com/grange_park_pe

As part of Black History Month, 1RC have taken part in a Class Assembly where we learnt about the origins of Black History month and some of the important terms associated with Black History such as ‘racism’ and ‘enslavement’.
We discussed important questions such as ‘Why do you think Black History Month is important’? and shared out opinions as a class.
We have learnt about the life of Mary Seacole, her journey to help soldiers in the Crimea and her career as a nurse. We recognise that she was a significant historical figure because she overcame racial prejudice to help others.

Last week, our school council delivered an assembly to each class to let them know what it was like being a school councillor and how other children can get involved in the work which they do.
The councillors were fantastic and spoke with such confidence! Thank you to all the school councillors who have been great ambassadors for the school!
Next week, there will be elections for the new school councillors for the rest of the academic year. Each child will get to vote and each class will elect their new school councillor. Good luck to all the children who are putting themselves forward.

On Friday we wore yellow to show our support for World Mental Health day. In 3AP we talked about how it is just as important to look after our mental health as it is our physical health. We created our own positive affirmation cards that included messages such as 'I am loved', 'I am proud of myself' and 'I am brave'.

Here are the photos of the year 5 pupils enjoying their Walsall F.C Match Day Visit on Saturday.

After the game, the children were lucky enough to meet some of the players and collect some autographs.

To show our support towards positive mental health and wellbeing, 1RC wore yellow to raise money for Young Minds.
We talked about the importance of not only having a healthy body, but also a healthy mind. We talked about the different emotions we can experience and how they are all ok. If we are feeling an emotion that makes us feel uncomfortable, we know who we can ask for help.
We completed a range of activities, including:
• What makes me happy?
• Mindfulness colouring
• What qualities do I look for in a friend?
• Things I love about me.

This half term our theme in Reception has been “let’s explore” we have had a wonderful time learning all about different ways of travelling, talking about our local community and the wider world. This week to round off this theme we used ideas from the story “Great Explorer” and had a camp out, we used boats to travel across the sea, a parachute to help us land safely and skis to get across the difficult terrain. Our afternoon was rounded off with hot chocolate and marshmallows.
We can’t wait to see what adventures our next theme takes us on!

We have been asked to share the below posters with Parents/Carers.
Measles cases are rising across the country, with over 102,000 children starting primary school in England being at risk of catching the disease. Measles is highly infectious and if left unvaccinated nine out of ten children in an early years setting can catch the disease if just one child is infectious.
