Another successful day for the Dino Doctors at All Things Wild Zoo & Dinosaur Park! 🦖

A HUGE well done to two of the finest Dino Doctors around…Steve and Mike! 👏👏👏

Our female Iguanodon found herself in a bit of a prehistoric predicament, but thankfully, the Dino Doctors were on hand to come to the rescue!

With teamwork, determination and a little bit of dinosaur know how, Steve and Mike (under the watchful eye of Dino Dave 👀) worked their magic and successfully got her back up on her feet! 🙌

Now that’s what we call a successful dino rescue! 🦕

Fantastic work, lads! The dinosaurs are definitely in safe hands! 😊👏👏👏

Meet Dilophosaurus
The double crested dinosaur!

Living around 184 million years ago during the Early Jurassic, Dilophosaurus was a large meat eating dinosaur that roamed what is now Arizona, USA.

Its name means “two crested lizard”, thanks to the spectacular pair of crests running along the top of its skull. But these weren’t simply bare bones! In life, the crests were probably covered with keratinous tissue, potentially making them look much larger and more impressive than the fossilised skull suggests.

Nobody knows for certain what these crests were used for. They may have helped Dilophosaurus recognise members of its own species or played a role in attracting a mate. They probably weren’t built for smashing heads together!

And despite what Hollywood might have you believe, there’s no evidence that Dilophosaurus could spit venom or had a neck frill.

The real Dilophosaurus was fascinating enough. A powerful Jurassic predator with a spectacular pair of head crests and plenty of mysteries still waiting to be solved! 🦖🔎

That’s the brilliant thing about dinosaurs… there’s always more to discover!

WHY DO DINOSAURS MATTER?

For many children, a fascination with dinosaurs begins with something simple like a toy, a book, a fossil, a museum visit… or perhaps seeing a Carnotaurus for the very first time at a dinosaur park 😊

But behind that fascination is something much more important…

Curiosity!

Dinosaurs provide an incredible starting point for children to ask questions, explore ideas and discover more about the world around them. Questions like…

How did they live?
What did they eat?
Why were some so enormous?
What happened to them?
And how do we know any of this happened millions of years ago?

Suddenly, a dinosaur can open the door to science, fossils, geology, evolution, geography, ecology and the history of life on Earth. 🌍🦴

It can also encourage children to develop their vocabulary, communication, creativity and confidence whether they’re learning a new dinosaur name, examining a fossil, drawing what they imagine prehistoric life looked like or simply sharing what they’ve discovered.

And that’s what makes dinosaurs so special.

They make children want to learn.

Dino Dave is built around that idea. Taking the excitement children already have for prehistoric life and using it as a pathway into real learning.

Because learning doesn’t always have to begin with a textbook.

Sometimes it begins with a question.

Sometimes it begins with a fossil.

And sometimes…

it begins with a dinosaur 🙂🦖

RED REX: A NEW DINOSAUR IS EMERGING… OR IS HE?

After his rather eventful first outing at All Things Wild Zoo and Dinosaur Park, Red Rex has apparently decided it’s time for a new lease of life! 😇

He’s been working hard with his hangry therapist, and apparently there have been some “remarkable improvements” in his ability to resist the urge to bite anything that moves! 👏😂

According to the therapist, Red Rex is showing excellent restraint…

Although we’re not entirely sure whether that means he’s becoming a reformed T. rex… 🤔

Or whether he’s simply developing a cunning new strategy to turn his dinner plate into an ALL YOU CAN EAT BUFFET! 🍖🍖🍖🍖

So, is this the NEW RED REX we’ve all been waiting for? 👀

Or is the Tyrant Lizard King simply playing the long game? 🦖😏

Either way, Red Rex is looking forward to welcoming visitors to All Things Wild Zoo & Dinosaur Park… and he promises to be on his very best behaviour.

Apparently. 😂
