Drake Judo Club - Tavistock Class

Drake Judo Club is a friendly, voluntarily run community club with classes on fridays within Tavistock colleges dance studio.
The Friday evening classes are a gentle introduction to the Olympic sport of Judo.
We provide a safe, fun and professional atmosphere for our members to learn, build confidence, make life long friendships and develop skills.
Head coach David Aston 2nd Dan Black Belt, a former military Judo player, runs
various ability classes through from 5pm till 8pm, term time only, extra curricular activities are available out of term time when applicable.
Becky Peers and Sam Allum are also volunteer level 1 coaches within the club, giving valuable support to David and students.

Excellent support from children, parents and Judoka members who attended the West open Randori gathering. Proud 👏 of you all.

This Friday as it’s half term and had a few already told me they are away there is:

No 5-6pm session

6-7pm session for anyone under 8 and under 12 usual group.

7-8pm seniors and advanced mon players.

Conditioning in judo for children should be incorporated into training to improve physical fitness and enhance performance. This involves incorporating various exercises and activities to build strength, endurance, and flexibility, all while ensuring safety and promoting positive experiences in a happy inviting environment.

Back to Drake Judo Club - Tavistock Class with lots of new faces, enthusiastic students and a happy welcoming to the New Year.

Judo warm ups are crucial for injury prevention in both children and adults.
Warming up improving performance increasing the blood flow, raising body and muscle temperature, and enhancing flexibility.
Today the group warmed up, gradually increases their heart rate and prepared their muscles for the demands of exercise, warming up reducing the risk of strains and tears to the childrens and adults muscles and ligaments.
