A very exciting day in White Willow and Almond Willow on Friday with some very special visitors - two adorable 6-week-old goats from The Cosy Cuddle Farm! 🐐🐐

The children were incredibly excited to meet the goats and had the opportunity to pet and feed them, getting a fantastic real-life experience to inspire their learning.

But there was a reason behind our unusual visitors! 👀 Throughout the classroom, the children discovered a range of mysterious clues and worked together to predict which story we would be exploring next in our writing lessons.

After lots of brilliant guesses, all was revealed… our new book is The Three Billy Goats Gruff!

What a memorable way to begin our new writing unit! We can’t wait to see how the experience inspires the children’s vocabulary, ideas and writing over the coming weeks.

A big thank you to The Cosy Cuddle Farm for bringing the goats along and helping us create such a special and memorable learning experience!

Last week, Almond Willow became design detectives, exploring and evaluating existing children's books that use sliders and levers. We looked closely at how the mechanisms worked and started thinking about how we might use them in our own designs.

This week, it was time to get hands-on! ✂️📐

The children had a go at creating their very own levers using card and split pins. It wasn't always easy - especially with little fingers still developing the strength and precision needed to manipulate the materials - but the children showed fantastic determination, perseverance and teamwork. 💪🌟

There were lots of moments of "I can't do it yet!" followed by trying a different way, helping a friend and celebrating when the mechanism finally moved.

We are already beginning to understand that good designers try, test, adapt and try again and we can't wait to see how these skills develop as we work towards creating our own moving pictures! 🚍✨

Year 6 have had another week of fantastic creativity and learning!

In Art, they were inspired by artist Alwy Fadhel, who created artwork using coffee. This linked beautifully with their class text, The Arrival, and gave them the opportunity to experiment with a very unusual art material. The children produced some fantastic and thoughtful pieces.

In Science, they explored the fascinating world of blood. They learned about the different components of blood and their import functions, before creating their own models to show what blood is made of.

The Naughty Bus visits Willow classes! 🚌

Last week the children arrived back to their classrooms to find a visitor had left their room in disarray! They became detectives to investigate and make predictions from a range of clues.
It soon became clear that the Naughty Bus was the culprit!
We have been so impressed with the children's curiosity and enthusiasm which has led into impressive writing and even a couple of Headteacher gold stickers. ⭐
We can't wait to see where their learning takes them next!

What a wonderful first full week our Blossom children have had! 🌸
They have truly embraced their first full week at school and have been busy exploring, learning and having lots of fun! From practising their cutting and sticking skills to digging, loading lorries and getting stuck into their play, they have certainly had a busy week.
We have particularly enjoyed watching the children explore different areas of their new environment, build new friendships and work with their teachers. It has been fantastic to see their confidence grow throughout the week.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend, with plenty of rest and relaxation, ready for another exciting and busy week next week! 🖍️🏫

A super start to Year 6!

Oak Class have been exploring the distinctive style of artist Lubaina Humid this week.

Whilst in science they used their creative flair and scientific knowledge to develop their understanding of what the heart is and what it does.

We can't wait to see how their learning progresses this half-term 🎨

What a fantastic first two days back at school!

It has been wonderful to welcome all of our children back, including a warm welcome to our new Reception children as they begin to settle into the Blossom classrooms. 🌸

Our children have already been busy exploring the resources in their new classrooms as well as getting creative, enjoying stories and impressing their teachers with their fantastic vocabulary choices.

They've been learning new chord sequences, practising addition with large numbers and embracing new learning across the school.

We are so proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity and positivity our children have shown - we can't wait to see what they achieve next week! 🌟
