๐จSchool Closure Due to Extreme Heat๐จ
Following the issue of Met Office Red Weather Alerts for Wednesday and Thursday, and after careful consideration of the risks posed by the forecast temperatures, we have made the difficult decision to close both the school and nursery on Wednesday 24th June and Thursday 25th June.
The safety and wellbeing of our children and staff will always be our highest priority. Whilst we have already made a number of adaptations in school, the severity of the warning and the potential impact on essential services means we do not believe we can guarantee a safe operating environment during these two days.
๐ Children will be provided with home learning activities by their class teachers, which we ask them to complete during the closure period.
We understand that this decision may cause inconvenience for some families and thank you for your understanding and support. Decisions of this nature are never taken lightly, but we believe this is the most responsible course of action given the circumstances.
Please continue to follow official advice on staying safe in extreme heat and keep an eye on school communications for any further updates.
Stay safe and take care in the heat. โ๏ธ

โ๏ธ Hot Weather Update & Sports Days Information โ๏ธ
With a sustained period of hot weather forecast for Taunton next week, we will be relaxing our school uniform expectations from Monday 22nd June to Thursday 25th June to help keep everyone as cool and comfortable as possible.
Children are welcome to wear:
โ
School shorts
โ
Summer dresses
โ
Approved school PE kit
We ask that jumpers, cardigans and ties are left at home during this period.
Please help us keep children safe in the heat by ensuring they:
๐งด Arrive at school with sun cream already applied
๐งข Bring a sun hat
๐ง Bring a refillable water bottle
We will continue to encourage regular hydration throughout the day, with access to water fountains and drinking water available across the school.
๐โโ๏ธ Sports Days Update
To avoid the hottest part of the day, both Sports Days will now begin 30 minutes earlier at 9:30am:
๐EYFS & KS1 Sports Day โ Wednesday
๐KS2 Sports Day โ Thursday
As always, the safety and wellbeing of our children remain our highest priority. Should any further changes be necessary, we will communicate these as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We look forward to welcoming families to our Sports Days and hopefully enjoying some sunshine together! โ๏ธ

This incredible achievement is a reflection of the kindness, respect and care our children show every day. ๐ Year 3 Geographers! ๐
This half term in Geography, Maple Class have been learning about coastlines and exploring the different physical features found along the coast! ๐๏ธ
As part of their learning, the children worked collaboratively with a partner to design and create their own model coastline using newspaper, tissue paper, paint and sand. They then carefully labelled the key features they had learnt about, demonstrating their growing geographical knowledge and understanding!
It was fantastic to see their creativity, resilience, enthusiasm and teamwork skills throughout. โญ๏ธ

๐โจ Birch Classโs learning journey to the Seven Wonders of the World has well and truly begun! โจ๐
Following their first Geography lesson exploring the incredible wonders of our world, it was fantastic to see our children in Year 2 taking their learning beyond the classroom. Inspired by the ancient city of Petra, the children chose to recreate this remarkable wonder in their own unique ways, carefully considering the stunning architecture carved directly into the sandstone cliffs! ๐๏ธ
