It’s been a busy few weeks for A Level Geology students, who have been digging further into geological theory by:

🌏 Modelling their understanding of plate boundaries
💡 Using refraction to simulate the waves that travel through the earth (and which help geologists understand the earth’s structure)
⛰️ Undertaking lab experiments to determine the density of rocks from each of earth’s layers

Teachers have shared that Year 1 students have started the new college year like a bunch of ROCK stars – and that they couldn’t be prouder! 👏

🚸 See a Child, Expect the Unexpected 🚸
Did you know that drivers should give way to pedestrians who are crossing, or waiting to cross, at a junction?
With children travelling to and from school every day, often in large groups, take extra care when approaching junctions near schools. Young pedestrians can be distracted by friends, conversations, phones, and the excitement of being together.
🚗 Before you turn, ask yourself: "How would I want another driver to behave if it were my child crossing the road?"
✅ Slow down
✅ Look carefully
✅ Be prepared to stop
✅ Give children time and space to cross safely
A little patience could make all the difference. Let's help every child get to and from school safely.

🚍 Travel update for students using bus services from Watchet (from 5th October) 🚍

We have been advised by Somerset Council that from Monday 5th October, Brendon Road in Watchet will be closed, affecting the 15, 28 and 28A bus services.

During the closure, services will only operate as far as St Decuman's Church, Watchet.

If you travel from Watchet, we recommend allowing extra time for your journey and either:

📍 Walking to St Decuman's Church (by the big blue anchor!) to join the bus service/getting off here too when heading home and continuing on foot – this is likely to be the easiest option for most.

or

📍 Using a free council-run shuttle bus running between Watchet Railway Station, Doniford and Williton, where connections to the 15, 28 and 28A will be available. This shuttle will have limited capacity and connections can't be guaranteed. ⚠️

The road closure doesn't have a set end date but is expected to last 3-4 weeks.
