This week, we are creating beautiful Autumn trees. 🌳🍂 We have been talking about the arrival of Autumn and the changes it brings, like cooler weather⛅️ and the stunning transformation of leaves🍁🍂. We looked at pictures of Autumn scenes and shared our observations👀. To deepen our understanding, we used our senses to explore a bunch of broccoli on the table🥦. After that, we dipped the broccoli into paint to make the leaves for our trees.🎨 Finally, once completed we added our beautiful photos to our new autumn artwork display board! 🤩🍂

This week the children listened to Amanda read the story ‘No More Nappies’. 📖 The children went on to learn about what we do step by step whilst potty training🧻. Promoting knowledge for the children who are learning how to use the toilet after recently coming out of nappies and who are toilet training. They also decorated their own underwear using watercolours with paintbrushes. 🎨🖌️

This week we have been exploring woodland animals. 🌲🌳 The children have been looking through the book ‘Inside the woods’ and we’ve been discussing what animals we can see.🦡🦊The children answered questions about animals such as “what house do they make?” “ What time of day would you see this animal?”. We spoke about the children’s favourite woodland animals whilst using the animals foot prints to mark make.🖌️🎨. This activity promotes Communication and Language, Physcial Development, Literacy, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Designs🤩.

As we begin the autumn months, we've been exploring a story called "Owl Babies"📖 We prepared a sensory tray filled with feathers, hard textures, and soft textures🪶 The babies eagerly started exploring the tray, touching sponges that felt soft and squishy, makeup brushes that felt smooth and soft on their skin, and scrubbers that felt hard and rough🧽 We talked about all the different textures we could see and feel, with the makeup brush being a clear favourite🤩 After this, we explored crunchy leaves, hard sticks, and hard conkers🍂 This activity promotes understanding the world, communication and language, physical development and literacy🙌

Autumn Patterns!🍁🪾 Today we have been discussing the changes they have noticed during Autumn, the colours of leaves and what our favourite thing about season is🍃🍂. The children had a turn copying ABAB patterns using different pictures of Autumn nature🪾We then used natural resources to create our own ABAB patterns🙌. We then discussed and pointed out patterns we see in our environment. This week, we have been making Gruffalo Granny pizzas!🍕 We began by reading the story and noticed the fox recommends cooking a “vegetable pizza!” 🦊🍕After this, we began to make our own🧑‍🍳👩‍🍳. Firstly adding pizza sauce🍅, then cheese 🧀, and finally selecting and chopping our vegetables🌽🫑🍄‍🟫 Everyone really enjoyed chopping the ingredients and adding them one by one. And once cooked they went into our lunchboxes to enjoy at home!🍕🤩

Today the children met for an important committee meeting during our coffee morning☕️ Enjoying some delicious breakfast and drinks whilst discussing what ideas they have for nursery and what they’d like more of🤔 Ideas including, getting another tricycle🚲 Having more yummy breakfasts🍳 And getting a pet rabbit or goldfish🐟 🐰 Lots to keep the grown ups busy🤣
