The children have had a great time exploring the Colour Café this week🤩 They have become artists whilst creating observational flower paintings🧑🎨 Promoting colour recognition as we discussed all of the different colours we could find within the area🌈 As well as becoming chefs, as they created some tasty treats in the kitchen, such as sand cake and sandy stew🧑🍳

Chugger’s Strawberry Field has opened this week for the babies🍓
The babies took part in a strawberry picking activity, exploring the strawberries using their senses🤗 They carefully looked at the strawberries, looking at their colour, shape and size, and enjoyed picking them from the tuff tray🍓 This activity encouraged babies to think about questions asked such as, “Where do strawberries grow?” and “What colour are strawberries?”🤔 They developed their understanding of nature and the world around them through hands on exploration🤲
As well as this, the babies have been doing lots of dancing, explored the new colour cafe and had lots of yummy foods🤩

Ocean mark making and fine motor skills practise 🌊🐠🐙
Today, we used fine motor skills to develop our pen grip and control for mark making. ✍️ We used warm water and pipettes to free the sea animals from the ice cubes and fishing nets to explore the water. 🎣🐟 We also came up with other ideas about how we could free them using the heat from our hands and by pouring water over them.🧊♨️
Finally, we used pens to practise mark making and tracing to create patterns and letters 🔤✏️
This activity promotes communication and language 🗣️ physical development 🙌 and literacy 📚

We have created a new Colour Monster Curiosity Cube🌈 An area for the children to discuss how they are feeling and reflect on their emotions💭 Asking the children questions such as “how are you feeling today?”🤔 “What makes you feel happy?”😁 “Is there anything you are worried about?”😬 and “Who can you talk to if you are sad?”😢 As we enter a new term with lots of changes, it’s important to have discussions about feelings and know that it is ok to feel all of your feelings☺️

Nature Pirate Hats! 🏴☠️🌸
This week, the children have been having lots of fun exploring the exciting world of pirates! 🥰We began our activity by investigating a pirate treasure chest and talking about the different things we could see inside. We shared our ideas about pirates and discussed what they might wear.
The children then got creative and made their very own nature pirate hats! 🎨🏴☠️ They used glue to decorate their hat outlines before choosing and sticking a variety of beautiful, colourful petals onto them. 🌸🌼 The children really enjoyed using the natural materials to create their unique designs.🤩

This week the children have been learning about international orangutan day!🦧For this activity the children have been exploring the orangutan habitat, painting and discussing what they know.🌳🤩whilst doing the activity the children was counting how many orangutans they could see , what colour they are and what they eat. 🍌After the activity we all sat together and read the book ‘orangutan with a van’ 📖This activity promotes understanding the world 🌎 mathematics , physical development, communication and language and expressive arts and design🖌️🎨

Today we’ve opened our ‘Colour Cafe’🎨 The children will be able to explore, create and use their imaginations through sensory and role-play experiences.💭 Using watercolours, flowers and natural materials, the children will be experimenting with colour, texture and patterns, while developing their creativity and expressing their own ideas. 🎨🌺 A fun new area, where the children can further develop their colour recognition and their fine motor skills whilst mark making.✍️🖌️ A reel of the children will be shared on Friday🤩

This week the babies have been deep sea diving 🌊🐠
We started by exploring a variety of sea animals and talking about the different sounds they make🎼. The babies developed their fine motor skills by using tweezers to pick up seaweed and scoops to collect and transfer water 💦 . They also enjoyed exploring a book, 📖 all about sea animals and discovering where different creatures live Alongside our sea-themed activities, the babies have been keeping very busy dancing 🕺 , playing with their friends and enjoying some delicious fruit salads for breakfast. 🍓🍊🍌These activities support the babies development across several areas of learning, including Understanding the World 🌎 , Physical Development 🤩, Expressive Arts and Design🖌️, and Communication and Language🗣️

🍋Lemonade making🍋 Today the children had lots of fun making their very own lemonade! We squeezed the lemons, then added water as well as adding mint.🍋We then mixed everything together before enjoying a refreshing taste of their delicious creation😋. The children loved getting involved and exploring the different ingredients, smells and flavours👃🏻. A great hands-on learning experience🤩.

This week the children have been joining in with summer mathematics.☀️🔢 For this activity the children using their fingers, gems, stones and shells to copy the number all around them.🐚☀️Whilst doing this we had a go counting to 20 and recognising the numbers around. 😊
