Little Explorers Day Nursery and Preschool - Taunton Little Explorers is a highly motivated, experienced team all within a fun and friendly environment. Ofsted Rated: Good We couldn’t have done this without you!

We have waited so long to share our exciting news with you all! Little Explorers Day Nursery and Preschool is opening this October 2022! The passion, the love, the enjoyment of watching children learn and grow in a supportive and caring environment, creating those bonds and memories with families has never lost its magic. This is our third and final move for Little Explorers and without a doubt our biggest adventure yet. We can’t wait to meet all of the families who will pass through our doors and share with you our Little Explorer ethos! We have put so much love, time and thought into creating each new room within our setting and aim to continue as the family friendly Little Explorers all of our past and present families know us as. We are delighted to announce that our whole team will be moving across to our new setting including many of our existing families. Over the coming months we will arrange an open day but for now any families wishing to secure a space or find out a bit more please do take a look at our website. For best viewing we recommend logging on via computer - but we have our mobile version if you prefer. We are currently offering visits at our Little Explorers Childminding setting to give families a feel for life as a Little Explorer! A HUGEeee congratulations to our wonderful Claire! ❤️🏆🥂

As many of you know, Claire was shortlisted for the Nursery World Awards 2026 Nursery Manager of the Year award and then went on to make the finals!

Last night at the Nursery World Awards Ball in London Claire was awarded Highly Commended finishing 2nd amongst nursery managers from across the UK! ✨

A seriously impressive achievement and one we are incredibly proud of. ❤️

And how lucky are we that we get to call her our manager?! 🥰

A huge congratulations from all of us. Thank you for everything you do, for your hard work, dedication and for everything you bring to our nursery. You truly deserve this recognition.

It’s time to say goodbye to our wonderful school leavers as they get ready for their next big adventure!

We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you. It has been a privilege to watch you grow, learn, make friendships and become the amazing little people you are today. 🌟

This week in preschool we have been learning all about healthy eating and how the foods we choose can help keep our teeth strong and healthy.

The children enjoyed taking part in a fun sorting activity where they looked at different foods and decided whether they should be fed to our happy, healthy teeth or our poor, toothache teeth! 🍎🍰🍕🍊 They had some fantastic discussions about which foods are good for our bodies and teeth, and which sugary treats should only be enjoyed occasionally.

Activities like this help children develop an understanding of making healthy choices while also promoting good oral hygiene from an early age. 🦷 🪥

🌟 We have some AMAZING news to share! 🌟

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our wonderful Nursery Manager, Claire Aquilina has been shortlisted for the Nursery Manager of the Year Award at the Nursery World Awards 2026! 🏆✨

Out of nominations from across the country, Claire is one of just FIVE nursery managers nationwide to be shortlisted. An incredible achievement and one that we couldn't be prouder of.

Claire is at the heart of everything we do at Little Explorers. Her passion, kindness and unwavering commitment to children, families and our team shines through every single day. She leads with compassion, integrity and a genuine desire to make a difference, ensuring every child feels safe, valued and supported to reach their full potential.

Whether she's working alongside staff in the rooms, supporting families through difficult times, championing children with additional needs or helping our team grow in confidence, Claire always leads by example.

Her dedication has helped create the warm, nurturing and inclusive environment that Little Explorers is so proud to offer.

When we nominated Claire, we shared just some of the many ways she has transformed the lives of children, supported families through challenging times and inspired our amazing team to be the very best they can be.

Seeing her recognised on a national stage is a truly special moment for all of us.

☀️ Important Nursery Closure Update ☀️

Following the Red Weather Warning issued for our area, Little Explorers will be closed on Wednesday 24th and Thursday 25th June.

This decision has been made following a thorough risk assessment and consultation with our management team, director and Somerset Early Years.

We carefully explored all available options, however the safety and wellbeing of our children, families, staff and visitors must always come first.

We understand that this closure may cause disruption and that many families will now need to make alternative arrangements at short notice.

Please know that this decision has not been taken lightly, and we are incredibly grateful for
your patience, understanding and support.

Thank you for working with us to keep our nursery community safe during this period of extreme weather.

We are absolutely delighted to share some exciting news with you all! 🌟

All four of our learning rooms, Cocoons, Acorns, Caterpillars and Butterflies, now have their very own dedicated sensory areas, complete with beautiful bubble tubes. 🫧

These calming spaces have been thoughtfully created to support children’s self-regulation and promote calm, positive behaviour. Our staff use the sensory areas throughout the day to help children manage big feelings, take quiet moments when needed, and feel safe and secure in their environment.

As well as being calming, these areas are truly magical spaces that spark curiosity and imagination. The gentle movement of the bubbles, the soft lighting, and the soothing atmosphere help to create moments of wonder and awe, encouraging children to explore, observe, and ask questions about the world around them.

Sensory play is such an important part of early childhood development. It supports:
✨ Emotional wellbeing
✨ Communication and language development
✨ Focus and concentration
✨ Social skills
✨ Independence and confidence

We are so proud to continue enhancing our learning environments to ensure they are nurturing, inspiring and inclusive for every child. If you’d like to know more about how we use our sensory areas within the day, please feel free to speak to your child’s key person.

This week in our Caterpillar Room the children will be learning all about personal hygiene 🧼✨

The children will be exploring our curiosity cube and a variety of fun resources to discover how we can look after ourselves and keep our bodies happy and healthy.

We’ve also introduced a nose-wiping station to encourage independence, helping the children build confidence as they practise caring for themselves throughout the day 👃💪

Lots of learning, exploring and growing happening with our little caterpillars! 🐛💛
