Lifting the veil Trish offers a distinctive and personal approach to the history art and is highly experienced in delivering her specialism to groups and individuals.

Looking at art has become one of the most compelling pastimes for an increasing number of us. Museums are crowded with eager visitors hungry for the unique mix of pleasure and personal engagement with art that nourishes the spirit. However many of those art lovers may wish to understand more of the context in which art objects were made. Power struggles and politics, alongside pivotal moments of social change have influenced the course of art history. Philosophers and cultural commentators have played their part in tracking the ways in which art represents the time of its making, yet speaks to us today. Knowledge and understanding may bring to light the sources of this life enhancing experience. I can offer insights and the route to informed looking that will, as Picasso proposed, truly "wash the dust from your soul". I have a first class honours degree in humanities with art history and a Master’s degree in art history. I have a wealth of experience in the further education sector and a proven track record in delivering all aspects of the subject from level 1 to 4, and in leading an adult group. Stepping down from the further education sector has given me time to reflect on my twenty three teaching career to date and to consider ways in which I can contribute to education within the community. My enthusiasm for the history of art is a defining aspect of my life and I feel I have much to offer to a wider audience. Alongside my academic qualifications and deep knowledge of the subject, I have a relaxed and engaging style of delivery and aim to facilitate discovery, discussion and new ways of thinking about the place and the value of art in society.

A reminder about the second of my Art Talks st the Castle hotel in Taunton. The subject this time is 'The Waking Dream' and in this talk we will explore the mysterious late 19th century art movement of Symbolism. Exotic, erotic and more than a little eccentric in their work, Symbolist artists reacted against materialism and the advance of industry and science.

A little reminder that the first of my two upcoming art talks at the Castle Hotel in Taunton is this Thursday 11th June at 2pm. "Stoned Love" will show in detail the amazing sculptural work of Gian Lorenzo Bernini who took Rome by storm in the 17th century. £15 for the talk only or £25 with the legendary afternoon tea included (highly recommended!)

The Second talk is on July 9th at 2pm. The art under discussion is the erotic and exotic theme of Symbolism. Search for the elusive femme fatale and the mysterious dream world of nineteenth century artists and poets.
