Heathfield is set in an attractive ‘green site’ on the edge of Taunton. Students come to the school from both the rural area and Taunton itself.

We thus enjoy the dual benefits of a very pleasant learning environment and easy access to the town. In recent years, the school site has undergone considerable expansion to provide well-equipped facilities for our students and for the several hundred people who regularly use the site after school hours. These developments have included the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre, a floodlit all-weather pitch,

Isabelle's 12 half-marathons in 12 months for Cancer Research UK 27/02/2026

Madame Ashton -our Year 9 RSL- is running the Taunton Half Marathon this Sunday, 1st March — her third half marathon of the year so far.
Indeed, in 2026, she is taking on her biggest running challenge yet: completing 12 half marathons, one full marathon, and one ultra within 12 months. She’s linking her love of running with Cancer Research UK, a charity chosen by students in Stuart House at Monkton Wood Academy. Students will be fundraising alongside her & Head of Stuart House - Mrs Kew- throughout the year.

Madame Ashton hopes her journey will inspire students to push their limits, support one another, and show how determination and resilience can drive real change. She is demonstrating our school values through this challenge:
• We aim for success
• We realise our potential
• We value our community

Please support her and this amazing cause, if you are able to.

HUGELY proud of our former student, Evie. Well done!

Congratulations to Evie Titley, former Monkton Wood Academy pupil, on receiving a gold award in Cambridge University’s Stem Smart programme!

🧪 Evie is currently studying Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

⚗️ She has answered 2000 questions and attended over 50 hours of tutorials on the Stem Smart programme so far.

📘 She also attended a summer school at the University of Cambridge last year.

🎓 When she started at Huish, Evie hadn’t considered applying for Oxbridge – but she has now been offered a place to study Chemistry at the University of Oxford.

Well done to Evie for your hard work and achieving more than you thought possible!

On Wednesday 28th January, a group of our Year 9 and Year 10 students took on the challenge of competing in the annual UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. This challenge is a national competition designed to stretch high‑achieving students with complex, thought‑provoking problem‑solving questions. It encourages mathematical reasoning, logical thinking and creativity beyond the standard curriculum.

We are incredibly proud to share that 37 of our students achieved Bronze, Silver or Gold awards which is a fantastic accomplishment!

Even more impressively, two of our Year 9 students have progressed to the next round, earning a place in the Grey Kangaroo 2026. A huge well done to all our students who took part, and good luck to Oliver and James as they prepare to compete in the next round.
