Have you heard of Henri Matisse?
In Class 1 the children have been learning about Henri Matisse and Painting with Scissors. ✂️
They looked at some of Matisse's collage pictures and discussed how they made them feel. The children had a go at creating their own collage pictures. Some of them chose to tear the paper into different shapes, some people used scissors. Some people tried to use the collage to represent an object or a place, whilst others enjoyed making abstract art. We loved the colour explosion of all of the collage paper.

Recorder fun for Year 3 & 4! 🎶
Year 3 and 4 enjoyed their first group recorder session this week. The children learnt how to hold the recorder correctly, how to achieve a tuneful sound & how to play their first few notes. We cannot wait to hear how their musical knowledge will progress this term. 🎶

We are so lucky to have woods on our school site! 🌲 🌳
Class 1 loved Forest School this week! The children worked together to make a huge den from sticks in the woods. In wanting to improve it further tarpaulins and camo nets were collected from the classroom. Other children created a garden, using sticks to sweep away all of the fallen leaves. 🍂 Meanwhile other children enjoyed playing on the tyre swing, taking it in turns to swing or push.
What a super time they had in the woods. 🤩

Class 3 have already fully immersed themselves in their Egyptian Topic. 🇪🇬
The children have written letters to an Egyptian archeologist from their class novel 'The Secrets of a Sun King'. They had fun creating tomb curses in hieroglyphics and even made their own secret tomb full of artifacts. 📖
In science Class 3 have been learning about the water cycle. Can they explain their working class water cycle models to you, which are attached to their class windows. 💦

Class 1 were very busy last week!
To help with our understanding the world and geography, Class 1 have been learning about houses and homes. The children have discussed who lives in their house and drawn pictures of their families. They talked about different houses and homes and discovered that people live in all sorts of homes. It might be a house, a flat, a bungalow, a castle, a tree-house, a houseboat, a caravan and many other homes. 🏡 🏰 ⛴️
The children enjoyed making homes out of playdough, lolly sticks, Duplo, blocks and shapes. We described our homes and found similarities and differences. What a fun filled week! 🤩

We are really proud of our new reception children as they have already got used to their new class, routines and being at big school!
Class 1 have already been busy with gross and fine motor activities, crafting, a colour hunt and exploring our large school site. 🍂 🌳 🎨
Mrs Leighton was very excited when we all managed to get changed for PE! 👕 🩳 We cannot wait to see all that you will achieve thus week Class 1.
