Welcome to Little treasures childminders where we offer a home from home and caring and nurturing environment for your children. We work from a 3 bedroom detached house in bishops Lydeard. Bishops Lydeard is a lovely village surrounded by a lovely countryside with plenty of things for your children to visit and see. The children have access to the ground floor and our large garden and vegetable/fl
ower patch. We have a playroom where the children can spend time doing arts and crafts, messy play, imaginative play and dress up. We also spend time in the kitchen where we do baking and science experiments. The garden also has a wide range of play equipment including a play house; see saw, climbing frame, sand and water play outdoor toys and games. We also have our very own gardening area where they can grow their own flowers and vegetables. Spending time outdoors is equally as important to us and we regularly go out for nature walks, visit local farms, parks and toddler groups etc… as part of our daily routine. Activities for the children are always available and are incorporated into our daily routine and are based on the children’s individual needs. Child led play and free play is encouraged at Little Treasures, the activities provided are following the Early Years Foundation Stage guidance and are planned to suit the needs, interests and development stage of each individual child. We use Tapestry which is an online learning journal that you will have access to at any time to view your child's development and see what activities and fun we have had during the day.

In the setting we are teaching the children Somerset Total Communication as another way to communicate.
Each week they will be learning 2-3 new signs and they can go home and teach their parents as well :)

Having placemats with their names and faces helps the children to recognise their own faces and names which also helps them to recognise letters in the environment and when they go to school they can recognise where their bits go.
We are teaching independence and giving the children the chance to have a sense of achivement by doing it all by themselves

🎶 Transition songs can be really helpful both at home and in a childcare setting 🎶
They help to:
