🌻 Sunflowers 🌻

With the success of our cress, the children have now all planted their sunflowers.
These will be coming home for the children to continue caring for them.

Let's hope they all grow as well as last year!

🌸 Happy Mothers Day 🌸

Today is all about being thankful for ALL the wonderful women who look after us, not just mum's.
So whoever you are celebrating with we hope you all enjoy your day.

🌸 Our theme this month is Spring 🌸

The children have already enjoyed planting their own cress and watching it change from seeds to an actual cress plant. They have taken them home to look after and watch what happens to them over the next few days.

Throughout the coming weeks we will also be reusing water bottles to make bird feeders, and planting sunflowers seeds to continue growing at home. 🌻

Spring has brought a lot of excitement to the setting, as well as some much needed sunshine. 🌞

Discussions are already in place with the children of which vegetables and fruit they would like to grow again this year. Lots of preparation has been going on to get our vegetable patch ready including a list of items the children feel we will need to make it a success again this year.

Look out for updates coming soon!

Outside play is a important part of our daily routine.
The children particularly like the huge muddy puddle we currently have in the garden.

Mud play has a range of benefits for all children including:

● Developing fine and gross motor skills
● Sensory awareness
● Balance and coordination
● Creativity and imagination
● Emotional and social wellbeing
● Environment Connection
● Cognitive and educational growth

The best part is it allows the children to be outside exploring nature, whilst using their senses to play and create.

Yes we get wet and muddy but most importantly it's all so alot of fun πŸ™‚

We are working hard to become as sustainable as we can and have a climate action plan in place. By making small changes we have already put a lot of good practices into place.

We have already introduced wet bags to decrease our use of nappy sacks and have started using reusable clothes for face washing.

We reuse as much as we can at the setting and actively encourage the children to recycle as much as we can.

The lights are turned off for most of the day allowing natural light to help the setting feel calm and relaxed as well as saving energy.

We have lots of other ideas to become even more sustainable and will activate these through out the year.

This is really positive for the children and will help the environment on a daily basis.

Our next project is our growing area which they are super excited to be part of.
