A quick reminder for those who have children who do phonics…We are very fortunate to have access to the RWI e-books on Oxford Owl. Every week your child will be assigned an e-book from their teacher. This will be a familiar book which they will have read in school during their phonics sessions. Please reread this book with your child and encourage them to read this text with fluency and expression. Ask the children the ‘Questions to talk about’ and encourage speedy reading by asking your child to read the green and red words in and out of order. They can also complete the fun quiz at the end. Log into Oxford Owl using the username and password assigned by your teacher. If you would like a reminder of this then please just ask. The book which your teacher has assigned will appear on your home page.

No doubt year 6 will sleep well tonight (children and staff). Hopefully they stayed awake long enough to share some of their adventures. We are so proud of everything they have achieved this week. Turns out that packing may have proved to be the most challenging part of the week so we will have a
lost property hand out on Monday.

In case you have not seen the email from the office...

The school lunch menus are now available on Parentmail.
We are not using Ipayimpact so the process of ordering your child’s lunch has changed slightly. Ordering can be made through your child’s parentmail account. Meals now must be ordered 9 days in advance, therefore meals will need to be ordered by 11pm on Saturday 28th August to enable your child to receive a lunch when they return to school on Wednesday 8th September. Subsequently meal orders will close at 11pm every Wednesday for orders for 2 weeks ahead.
We are very pleased to now offer the facility to order your child’s school lunch for a full half term in advance, enabling you to book meals until the end of October. Hopefully you will find this useful allowing you to make all your school lunch bookings only once per half term. Please contact the school office if you require any further information or assistance.

It might be useful if you could send your child into school with a sturdy carrier bag for them to bring home some of the fabulous work that they have created this year - not to forget that they will clear out their draw so all the tupperware containers that they have been hiding in there will come home. (Maybe that was just my boys!)

It was lovely to see so many of you at the leavers service this evening. We hope that you enjoyed sharing some memories of the children's time with us.

Year 4 have been doing some amazing Tudor sketches. Here is just a sample of their work.

Today we paid tribute to England football team. We feel that this team share our core values of courage, perseverance and respect. We combined this with our learning about the artist Chuck Close who uses the grid method to create photorealistic portraits.

And then there was rounders! A great day on the field with the SASP coaches teaching some skills and then an inter-house tournament to end the day.

Apologies that it has taken some time but here are a selection of images from the year 6 residential experience. As you can see, a good time was had by all and the sun shone in Devon. (Which I for one suffered for!)

Wanted to say a big public thank you to the parents who kindly came and stayed up all night to keep our sixes safe while camping. Will post more photos of the trip when I have downloaded them from the school phone on Monday.

All home safe . We hope the children enjoyed it and suspect they will sleep well tonight.

A massive thankyou to Trinity Scouts for their help putting up the tents that they had already lent to us this evening! Community service at its best.

Now all settled in their tents after a busy but fantastic day at COACH in the kayaks and team building. Looking forward to our day at Skern tomorrow.

We are excited to to take part in Beat the Street which starts on Wednesday. The beat box is now up outside our school. How many others can you find? Remember to register online ready to participate.

Bodhi popped in to meet some of the Year 6's today in a long promised visit. He has some training to do before he gets his "Pets as Therapy" certification but he is hopeful that if he perseveres, he will get there.

2 days of Bikeability done and I suspect that the children will sleep well tonight - As will the adults Louise Da Silva & Annette Richards-Farmer! Fingers crossed for dry weather for the next group.
