A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our OA drinks event at The Boundary in London.

It was fantastic to see such a great turnout and to catch up with so many familiar faces.We'd also like to extend our sincere thanks to the OA Club for generously sponsoring the first drink of the evening - a much-appreciated gesture that helped get the conversations flowing.

Finally, thank you to everyone who spread the word and encouraged their friends and peer groups to join us. Your support helped make the event such a success.

We hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did, and we look forward to seeing you again at future alumni events.

Happy National Sporting Heritage Day!

Today we're celebrating some of the remarkable sporting stories preserved in our archives and the generations of pupils whose achievements helped shape our sporting heritage.

📸 Image 1: Barbadian Frederick Leslie Archer, captain of the 1905 cricket team. Archer went on to become KCT's first international cricketer, representing both Barbados and the West Indies between 1907 and 1926.

📸 Image 2: The diving competition of the Meade King Cup in 1947. The Meade King Cup remains the oldest running school swimming competition, a testament to a long tradition of sporting excellence.

📸 Image 3: The Rosslyn Park 7s team of 1951 after their semi-final loss to the eventual winners. Despite that disappointment, the 1st XV had enjoyed a superb season, winning 10 matches, drawing one and losing just one, while conceding only two tries all season.

It was fantastic to welcome OAs Fergus, Hal and Gray back to King's to share their gap year experiences with our Sixth Form pupils.

From Fergus' adventures in New Zealand to Hal and Gray's incredible Mongol Rally journey, which raised more than £4,000 for charity, their stories were packed with inspiration, resilience and unforgettable memories.

Thank you for coming back to inspire the next generation of King's pupils.

A trip down memory lane for OA Bill Caudwell (King Alfred, 1966)!

This week, Bill and his wife Liz returned to King’s for the first time in 55 years. Having last visited for an OA Dinner in 1971, Bill enjoyed seeing how much the school has changed, while reflecting on the memories that have stayed the same.

From singing in the choir and daily chapel services to favourite lessons in Geography and History, Bill shared fascinating stories from his school days. He also caught up with our Archivist, Alison, to discuss their shared interest in preserving local history.

Since leaving King’s, Bill has enjoyed an extraordinary career as a teacher, serviceman, battlefield guide, conservationist, and charity founder. Today, he and Liz help run a tree conservation charity on the slopes of Mount Kenya. 🌳

Congratulations to our OAs who took part in this year’s Thames Hare & Hounds Alumni Race.

Set against the beautiful backdrop of Wimbledon Common, this challenging five-mile inter-schools cross-country race brought together alumni runners from schools across the country. This marks the second year that King’s OAs have entered the event, and we hope to see even more runners proudly representing King’s in the years ahead.

Our six OA participants, Andrew Richards, Robert Grattan-Cooper, Mhairi Hall, Laurence Hanna, Ed Mitton and Robert Hanna, looked every bit the part in their King’s-branded running vests and embraced the spirit of the occasion with enthusiasm, determination and plenty of school pride.

A special congratulations goes to Mhairi Hall, who completed the course in an impressive 35 minutes and 21 seconds. Well done, Mhairi, and to all our runners for flying the flag for King’s so brilliantly.

Thank you also to Mr Lewellyn for travelling to London to cheer them on.

Congratulations to OA Bertie Michael, Bishop Fox 2026, who made his England U19 cricket debut!

Fresh from completing his A-levels, Bertie opened the innings for England U19 against Pakistan scoring an incredible 131.

The 18-year-old left-handed batter has also been scoring heavily for Somerset Second XI throughout the summer.

And, before leaving King's, Bertie was also a part of our College team that won the England Schools Cricket Association Under 18 Cup - what a fantastic summer!

Congratulations, Bertie - we can't wait to follow your journey.

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Good luck to our OA runners!

We are delighted that six OAs will be representing King's in the Thames Hare and Hounds Alumni Race this Saturday (12 September).

The five-mile race around Wimbledon Common begins at 3.00pm, and anyone in the area is warmly encouraged to come along and show their support. Look out for the runners in their distinctive King's-branded vests.

Representing OA year groups spanning almost 40 years, from 1975 to 2014, are: Andrew Richards, Robert Grattan-Cooper, Mhairi Hall, Laurence Hanna, Ed Mitton and Robert Hanna.

Richard (Roddy) Llewellyn will be travelling up from Taunton to offer his support. Look out for a red King’s flag!

We wish them every success and look forward to hearing how they get on.

A Warm Return to King's After 50 Years

It was a pleasure to welcome Philip Johnston OA, Tuckwell 1975, who recently visited King's while on holiday from Queensland Australia. Philip was accompanied by his wife and a friend.

This was his first visit back in more than fifty years. He spoke warmly about his time at King's and enjoyed revisiting familiar parts of the site. He was also impressed by the school's development over the years, particularly the new buildings, while appreciating that many aspects of King's still felt recognisable from his own school days.

Following a successful career in property management software Philip is now enjoying retirement. He was delighted to reconnect with the school and hear about its progress.

This week we were delighted to welcome OAs Nick Lasham and David Robertson (King Alfred 1976) back to the school. Arriving mid-morning, they enjoyed a tour of the site, sharing memories and reminiscing about their time here as pupils.

After enjoying a traditional school lunch, they spent the afternoon watching a selection of u13 teams competing in the King's Cricket Festival. It was a pleasure to host them and to hear their reflections on the school's rich history and continued development.

Both Nick and David will be joining us at the November Dinner this year, why not join them?
