Wishing a very Happy Father’s Day to all our wonderful Daddies, Grandfathers, Stepdads, Uncles, and other special people who play such an important role in our children’s lives.

Our children have been busy this week creating some very special Father’s Day crafts, cards, and keepsakes, carefully made with lots of love, imagination, and little helping hands.

Today we celebrate the everyday heroes who encourage, nurture, teach, and inspire our children. Whether it's reading bedtime stories, sharing adventures, offering cuddles, or simply being there, your love makes a world of difference.

We hope you enjoy a day filled with love, laughter, and precious family moments.

💚🌍 Green Week at The Beehive 🌍💚

At the Beehive, the children have been exploring Green Week, a time dedicated to helping children learn about caring for our environment and understanding how their actions can make a positive difference to the world around them.

We have been encouraging the children to become environmentally aware, by exploring different countries around the world, learning about various climates and weather conditions, discussing ways to reduce waste, and discovering how recycling helps protect our environment.

We need to help children connect with nature from an early age so they can develop a lifelong respect for the environment.

Through Green Week, children learn that even small actions, such as recycling paper, turning off lights when they are not needed, reusing materials, and looking after plants and wildlife, can help protect our planet for future generations. These experiences support children's understanding of the wider world while encouraging responsibility, curiosity, and care for their environment.

♻️ EYFS Activities for Home
• Junk Modelling: Gather clean recycling like cardboard tubes, yoghurt pots, and plastic bottles. Let your child use glue and tape to invent their own robots or spaceships.
• Recycling Sorting Challenge: Set up labelled boxes or bins (e.g., paper, plastic, metal) and let your child sort the household recycling. This reinforces colour matching and categorical skills.
• Seed Bombs: Mix compost, clay, and wildflower seeds into small balls. Once dry, let your child toss them into the garden or a pot to grow flowers for local bees.
• Cardboard Bird Feeder: Coat an empty toilet roll or cereal box segment in peanut butter, then roll it in birdseed. Hang it outside to observe local birds.
• Nature Walks: Go on a scavenger hunt to spot seasonal changes, collect natural treasures, and discuss why we shouldn't drop litter.

🦕🌿 Stomp, Stomp, Roar!🌿🦖

This week, we have been celebrating National Dinosaur Day!

The children have enjoyed dinosaur-themed messy play, comparing dinosaur footprint sizes, exploring shapes, and developing their early mathematical thinking through sorting, matching, and measuring activities.

We have also been learning the names of different dinosaurs, introducing new vocabulary such as "herbivore," "carnivore," "fossil," and "extinct." Through group discussions, the children have been sharing their ideas about what different dinosaurs might eat and how they lived millions of years ago.

🦴 Did you know? Some dinosaurs laid eggs, just like birds do today! In fact, scientists believe that birds are the closest living relatives of dinosaurs. How amazing is that?

We have also explored dinosaur books, songs, small-world play, and creative arts and crafts, encouraging curiosity, imagination, communication, and language development. The children loved making predictions, asking questions, and discovering fascinating facts about these incredible creatures.

Learning through play helps children develop confidence, critical thinking skills, and a lifelong love of discovery—and dinosaurs certainly sparked lots of excitement this week!

We had a wonderful time at our annual Family Gardening Morning this week! 🌱🌼

Together, the children and families enjoyed planting and potting to create beautiful planters for the garden, as well as individual cress and sunflower pots to take home and care for.

Some of the children also enjoyed spotting wildlife and exploring information books to learn more about the insects and creatures living in our outdoor environment🐞📚

We were incredibly grateful to receive donations of lots of lovely plants — thank you! Our fence planters have now been beautifully refreshed, with plenty left over to renew and brighten our existing garden planters too. 🌿

To finish the morning, families enjoyed delicious homemade beetroot breadsticks and Oliver’s Vegetables bread prepared by our fantastic Kitchen Team. 💚

🐝 World Bee Day – 20th May 2026🐝

Today at The Beehive, we are celebrating World Bee Day and learning just how important bees are to our planet!

Why Bees Matter:
🐝 Bees may be tiny, but they play a huge role in keeping our environment healthy – around 1/3 of the food we eat depends on pollinators like bees.
Amazing Bee Facts:
🐝 Bees communicate through a special “waggle dance” to show other bees where flowers can be found.
🐝 Honey Bees must visit around 2 million flowers to make just one pound of honey! 🍯

At Beehive, the children have the opportunity to take part in a weekly Gardening Club, that promotes useful skills and understanding of how to care for living things in the world around them!🌻

Our wonderful new potting shed, provides a safe place for plants to grow, as the children take time nurturing them and exploring books to support their knowledge.

🏡 Ways You Can Help Bees at Home:
• Plant bee-friendly flowers such as lavender, sunflowers, and wildflowers
• Leave a shallow dish of water outside for thirsty bees
• Grow fruits, vegetables, or herbs that attract pollinators
• Encourage children to explore nature and learn about insects safely
• Leave small wild areas in gardens for bees and other wildlife
