☀️ An Amber Heat Health Alert is in place across the South West from 9am on Wednesday 8 July until 9pm on Sunday 12 July.
While many people will enjoy the warmer weather, high temperatures can affect some people more than others, particularly older residents, young children and those with existing health conditions.
A few simple steps can help you stay safe:
💧 Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated
🏠 Keep homes cool where possible
❤️ Check on friends, family and neighbours who may need extra support
🍺 If you're enjoying the football and a few drinks this weekend, remember alcohol can contribute to dehydration in hot weather
🌊 Take care around rivers, lakes and other open water. Even on warm days, cold water shock and hidden hazards can pose serious risks.
