Been a good 1st day at the BIBA conference. Met a few providers, chatted with my network, went to a couple of interesting seminars and finished the day with a talk by Davina McCall who was very entertaining. Welcome post conference nibbles and drinkies courtesy of Acrisure.

Many of our clients have either installed solar panels on the roof of their properties or are considering it. These are often sold with the promise of lowering energy costs & reduced environmental impact. Whilst these systems are generally safe, incorrect installation or lack of regular maintenance can increase the risk of fire making it essential that policyholders understand their responsibilities. Such installations usually need to be declared to insurers as many apply special terms & conditions. Our friends at NBS have produced a very interesting article on the topic.

It is important that any such systems are regularly inspected & maintained & suitable records kept. Signs should be clearly displayed on the outside of the building warning emergency services of the presence of photovoltaic &/or solar panels & the location of the DC isolating switch should be detailed on the premises fire risk assessment & site plans.

Participated in a fascinating webinar today on the use of AI. As someone with little to no experience of this resource I was amazed what it can do with the right prompts. I asked it to create a 10 minute presentation for a networking group and was really impressed with the output. It produced a leaflet as part of the presentation which was far better than I could have done by myself. Looking forward to finding out what else it can help me with.
