OLIVER WITH A TWIST - PRIORSWOOD PRIMARY SCHOOL - Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre Priorswood Primary School are delighted to share with you their special production of Oliver With A Twist, Charles Dickens' classic tale.

As we head into SATs week, we just wanted to say how incredibly proud we are of all the children. They have worked so hard throughout the year and shown such determination, resilience and positivity every single day.

The children are more than ready for this challenge and all we ask is that they try their very best. SATs are simply an opportunity for them to show some of the amazing things they have learnt.

To help them feel calm, confident and ready for the day ahead, please ensure your child gets a good night’s sleep and has a healthy breakfast before coming into school.

We know they are going to shine and we could not be prouder of them! Good luck, Stags— you’ve got this! 🥳

Priorswood wins sports award

Priorswood Primary School has seen its commitment to ensuring every child has an equal opportunity to take part in sport recognised through a Barclays School Partnership Equal Access Award.

The award focuses on providing equal sporting opportunities for girls, but at Priorswood, the vision goes even further creating an inclusive environment where every child, regardless of gender, race, background, or personal circumstance, is given the same platform to succeed.

Over the past academic year, Priorswood has significantly increased its participation in local sports tournaments, allowing more children than ever before to represent the school across a wide range of events.

From football, cross country, cricket, athletics, and dodgeball – where this year pupils progressed to compete in a higher-level county tournament – children have been given the chance to build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and experience competition in a positive and supportive environment.

A key part of this success has been the school’s commitment to removing barriers for families. With many pupils facing challenges around transport and access to after-school opportunities, staff have worked hard to ensure no child misses out. By taking the lead in organising tournaments, arranging fixtures, and transporting pupils to events, the school has created opportunities that may otherwise not have been possible.

The diversity of Priorswood’s teams also reflects the school’s wider values, with pupils from a wide range of backgrounds regularly representing the school at competitions throughout the year, showcasing the inclusive nature of sport at Priorswood.

Tournament organiser Jake Ripley said: "The award is important for us because, historically, we weren’t seen as a particularly sporty school, but I’m working hard to help change that narrative.

“While the award focuses on equal access for girls, for us it’s about making sure every child – regardless of race, gender, or background – is given the same chance to succeed.

“A lot of our children don’t always have access to transport or opportunities outside of school, so by taking them to tournaments myself and creating those chances, we’re helping level the playing field. Last year, we attended a huge number of tournaments, which meant more and more children had the opportunity to represent Priorswood, and that’s something we’re really proud of.

“I also want to take the opportunity to thank the parents who consistently offer support and lifts – it makes a huge difference. Most importantly, I’m incredibly proud of our pupils for always showing up, giving it their all, and representing the school with such fantastic attitude. It genuinely makes everything worth it."

Thank you for taking the time to speak with our KS2 pupils about anti-bullying. Your session was engaging, informative, and really helped the children think about kindness, respect and how to support one another.

Our fabulous Nat, who did her work experience at Priorswood Primary School 25 years ago, returned today to host some anti bullying art sessions.

A huge thank you to everyone who brought in their amazing decorated potatoes for World Book Day! 🥔📚 The effort, creativity and imagination that went into them was fantastic to see.

The staff had the very difficult job of voting and choosing three winners:

A huge well done to everyone who took the time to decorate a potato – they were all brilliant! The children will also have the chance to come and look at them all at lunchtime today.

We hope your child enjoyed celebrating World Book Day! 📖

This week Otter Class thoroughly enjoyed our class trip to We The Curious in Bristol. Whilst we were there, we got to explore all of the activities and experiments on offer to us including, running on a wheel to help the water flow down the waterfall, making mint tea, experiencing space, making giant bubbles, creating some animations and meeting a robot.

All children showed our school values brilliantly throughout the day and we are so proud of all of them. Well done Otter Class!

Safer Internet Day 2026 – A Big Success at Priorswood

Today the whole school spent the day focusing on this year’s theme: “Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI.” All classes took part in a Tech She Can assembly and a range of activities designed to build understanding, awareness, and confidence around artificial intelligence.
Across the school, pupils created fantastic pieces of work to showcase both their existing and newly developed knowledge. Activities included:
-Owl class learnt about the story of Smartie the Penguin who was learning about how to stay safe online
- KS1 designing their own AI bots and identifying the useful skills they would give them
- KS2 writing advice columns to help people decide whether something might be AI-generated, posters exploring the environmental impact of AI and discussions and displays showing the pros and cons of AI

Each teacher also selected a SID Superstar from their class — a huge well done to all the children recognised for their effort and engagement today.

In recent years, AI has become an increasingly important and widely discussed topic. We are proud at Priorswood that our pupils are becoming more informed about this technology and are learning how to use it safely and responsibly. They are excited to share what they’ve learned at home — especially about the environmental impacts of AI.

Well done everyone for a brilliant Safer Internet Day. 👏

School will be open at 10am this morning. Our staff are slowly arriving as the roads clear. Please keep an eye on Dojo throughout the day regarding after school clubs as if the weather deteriorates, staff may need to leave early to ensure they can travel home safely.
