Gorilla Week 🦍: This week the babies have been exploring the world of gorillas. They have been having fun exploring the habitat where gorillas live by looking at a tuff tray covered in a selection of different leaves and textures 🍁🌿. As they explored the tray they discovered hidden gorillas. We spoke about the different textures we could feel, the noises that gorillas make and all had fun making gorilla noises 🦍. As well as exploring a tuff tray the babies have also been creating their own paintings of gorillas using different texture brushes to create the texture of the gorillas coat 🖌️🎨. As the babies carried out this activity we spoke about the different colours the gorillas are saying black and grey. These activities promote the babies understanding of the world 🌎, communication and language 🗣️ and expressive arts and design 🎨.

On the 24th September it is the international day of Birmingham! To celebrate, the children have been learning about our second largest city 🏙️ and talking about some the landmarks you can see while visiting. The children talked about the different colours, shapes and sizes of the landmarks before painting one themselves 🖌️ This activity promotes communication and language 🗣️ Physical development 🙌🏻 understanding the world 🌍 and expressive arts and design 🎨

This week the children have been learning about foxes 🦊 and exploring all different natural resources in order to make the foxes habitats along side reading a story called “little lost fox” which they got to paint on their pages🦊 📖.The children have also learnt about what foxes like to eat 🍴,where they like to sleep 💤 and the dens they make to keep warm in the colder months❄️. This activity supports understanding the world 🌎, expressive arts and design🎨, and communication and language 🗣️.

Mathematical ladybirds. 🐞 This week the children have been developing their mathematical skills the children used apples to print the shape of their ladybird on the paper. 🎨 We then counted as we added the ladybirds legs and spots. 🔢 We spoke about if we have seen ladybirds before and what colours they are. 👏🏻 Some lovely pieces of art work have been created this week. ☺️ This activity promotes communication and language, expressive arts and designs and mathematics. 🔢

🦁 Welcome to Our Safari Café! 🌿🦒
The children will be able to enjoy exploring our new Safari Café role-play area! 🐘🦓 They will have the opportunity to use their imaginations as safari explorers, café chefs and customers, exploring the different animals, menus and cooking resources. The sensory safari trays will encourage the children to dig, discover and talk about the animals they can see, while the café will provide opportunities for pretend cooking, serving and taking orders. 🍳🥣 Through this exciting role play, the children will be developing their communication and language, imagination, social skills and understanding of the world, all while learning through meaningful play. 🌍✨

♻️ This week, to celebrate National Recycling Day, the babies have been exploring the importance of recycling through a fun and engaging sensory activity! 🌍💚The babies explored a sensory tray filled with green rice and pasta, using their hands to feel, scoop and explore the different textures. 👋 They also enjoyed our magnetic road, where they used recycling trucks 🚛 to drive along the road and pick up the recycling.Whilst carrying out the activity, we supported their communication and language by introducing words such as “recycle,” “truck,” “pick up,” “drive,” “in” and “out.”This activity encouraged sensory exploration 👋, creativity 🎨, fine motor skills ✋, hand-eye coordination 👀, communication and language 🗣️, and understanding of the world 🌍, while beginning to introduce the importance of caring for our environment. ♻️💚

This week the children have been developing their expressive arts and designs, as we focused on the nursery rhyme “the wheels on the bus” 🚌. The children started by painting their own bus, developing their colour recognition throughout 👏🏻 We dissused the children’s experiences of going on a bus and where they went on the bus. 🚌😃We then explored a tuff tray using different buses and vehicles, the children moved them around developing their imagination. 😌🙌🏻 This activity promotes understanding the world, literacy and expressive arts and designs 👏🏻😊
