🐾 MEET THE TEAM — No. 1: Lumi

We thought we’d start our Meet the Team series with arguably the most important member of HD Tuition.

Lumi — Chief Morale Officer.

Her qualifications are limited.
Her attendance is inconsistent.
Her understanding of the GCSE curriculum is concerning.
And, despite repeated conversations, she continues to sleep during working hours.

However, what she lacks in professionalism, she makes up for by being exceptionally fluffy.

Lumi’s main responsibilities include supervising the office, greeting visitors and providing emotional support to anyone willing to give her attention.

She has never planned a lesson, marked a piece of work or answered an email.

And yet somehow, she remains one of the most popular members of the team.🤍

It’s official… our HD Christmas Gala 2026 invitations are going out TODAY! 🥂💜

Every student who attends HD Tuition will receive their invitation to take home with them from their session, and we are SO excited to finally start getting everyone booked in!

A little note for parents, as we’ve had a few people ask…

You absolutely do NOT have to attend with your child! 😂

If they have friends who also attend HD Tuition and they’d rather come along together without their parents, that is completely fine. Equally, parents and families are very welcome to join us too!

Come inside Maple…

Next up on our little tour of HD Tuition is Maple - home to our Humanities sessions and some of our evening English groups.

Like every room at HD Tuition, Maple has been designed to feel deliberately different from a traditional classroom.

We want our students to walk in after a long day at school and feel like they can settle in, get comfortable and actually enjoy being here.

We've never done a giveaway before, so we thought if we're going to do one… we might as well make it a BIG one.

🧪🔬 GCSE SCIENCE HAS OFFICIALLY ARRIVED AT HD TUITION! 🔬🧪

We are absolutely delighted to introduce David, our new KS3 - GCSE Science teacher & A-Level Physics teacher and when we say we are incredibly lucky to have him, we really mean it..!

David has over 30 YEARS of science teaching experience, having begun his teaching career in 1994, and holds a BSc (Hons) in Physics.

His career has included roles as:

⭐ Head of Science
⭐ KS3 Science Teacher
⭐ GCSE Science Teacher
⭐ Head of Physics
⭐ Physics Lecturer
⭐ Headmaster
⭐ Institute of Physics Mentor & School-Based Physics Coach
⭐ GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level & IB Physics Teacher

And if that wasn’t enough…

🏆 David was awarded the Institute of Physics Physics Teacher of the Year award!

So yes… we are just a little bit excited to have him joining!

From next month, we’re expanding our timetable to offer:

And, just like our other subjects, our Science sessions will be taught face-to-face in groups of no more than FOUR students.

That means no huge classes. No getting lost at the back of the room. Just brilliant teaching, individual attention and plenty of opportunity to actually ask questions and understand the Science.

Thinking about extra support for your child this academic year?

Our Back to School offer is the perfect time to join HD.

For a limited time, students who are brand new to HD Tuition can enrol in weekly tuition and receive their first FOUR sessions FREE. 🎉

Maths
English Language

RS

All taught by experienced teachers in our signature small groups of no more than four students.

How does the offer work?

The four free sessions are offered as part of your child's enrolment with us for the academic year — they aren't a four-week free trial.

If your child continues with their place, their first four sessions are completely free and their normal tuition payments will cover the remainder of their annual programme.

If tuition is cancelled during or immediately following the four promotional sessions, those sessions will become chargeable at our normal tuition rate and will be invoiced in full.

This offer is available for new HD students only and cannot be applied retrospectively to existing tuition or students who have recently enrolled.

Spaces in some year groups and time slots are extremely limited, so please get in touch and we'll send over the available options for your child.

🧪 SCIENCE TUITION IS OFFICIALLY HERE! 🔬✨

After a HUGE amount of interest (and a very long waiting list!), our brand-new Science tuition schedule is officially ready!

From October, we’ll be running weekly Science tuition for:

🧬 Year 9
⚗️ Year 10 Combined Science
🔬 Year 10 Triple Science
🧪 Year 11 Combined Science – AQA
🧫 Year 11 Combined Science – Edexcel
⚛️ A-Level Physics – daytime availability (enquire for times)

Our Science rotation groups will cover Biology, Chemistry and Physics, with students studying a different science each week and working through the relevant curriculum and exam content.
As always, groups at HD Tuition are kept to a maximum of just FOUR students, so spaces are extremely limited.
