Some of our children recently took part in a competitive cyclo-cross event at Ash Meadows this week against a large number of schools from the local area.

It was a tough event with the children having to complete as many laps as they could in a 7 minute time limit.

Some of the children won their heats and as a team they came in third in terms of points! Well done to the team!

Year 4 are budding bakers - they made focaccia, pitta and naan breads. They first tasted breads from different shops and then designed their own ideal breads. The best bit was eating their products - they certainly beat the shops' efforts!

Year 1 explored the question, 'What is courage' when learning about Remembrance Day.

Year 5 visited Castle School to experience and play the Gamelan - a traditional Indonesian percussion orchestra. The class applied understanding of musical beat and rhythm developed in their Samba drumming workshops last year.

We marked Remembrance Day with a visit to the school by 2 veterans from the Royal British Legion. Our Year 5 class visited St John's Church to see the Commonwealth War Graves there and Year 6 laid a wreath at Vivary Park war memorial. We were so proud of the respect shown for such an important occasion by all children.

A number of our Year 6 children took part in an invasion games festival this week. They had the chance to play with and against children from other local schools and enjoying learning the tactics for some new games such as handball and competitive frisbee. They had lots of fun and played with great enthusiasm.

Today we celebrated our Harvest Festival with Reverend Paul from St John's Church. Thank you to all families for your kind donations which will be collected by Taunton foodbank for those in need. Our harvest wreaths will now decorate the tree of life at St John's Church.
