Experiencing the magic inside a festive Christmas tree is something truly special. Surrounded by twinkling lights, colourful decorations and winter traditions, my little children gained a real sense of how many families celebrate Christmas. It’s a wonderful way to spark curiosity, inspire imagination and share the joy of the season together.

A recent walk in Delamere Forest, we followed The Stickman Trail. Little ones loved the interactive activities & spotter panels which created additional vocabulary for all. We jumped into the story, reading as we went along. They listened, followed instructions, asked lots of questions before predicted what happened next by adding their own narrative using natural material found along the trail. We enjoyed lunch in the outdoor area before playing on the beautiful wooden play equipment.

Holding onto Autumn, a beautiful day spent at Norton Priory on the Bridgewater Canal. We developed our gross motor skills in the walking trails around the ruins & woodland play areas. We strengthened our fine motor skills by slowing down to concentrate on mark making & leaf rubbing. We enjoyed identifying trees & plants in the walled garden and observed the wildlife we spotted on the canal.

The World Museum in Liverpool is a fantastic venue we visited this week. They offer specific under 5yr sessions (no photos shown here due to having children in all of them). Children are encouraged to explore, play together and take turns. They listened, spoke and followed instructions in the different environments, learning how the world works throughout.

A frosty start to the day, so we wrapped up warm to enjoy our day at Chester Zoo. We focused today’s visit on animal faces, taking close up photos to continue discussions at home about their size, texture and features.

Today we worked as a team to make & eat our pancakes. Lots of learning and new experiences shared. We discussed the ingredients we needed before weighing, cracking & pouring them into our bowl. Taking turns is part of our everyday skill set, ensuring we care for each other. Some of us became very excited upon our turn to mix the ingredients together. We watched the liquid mixture turn into our pancake which introduced lots of new vocabulary. We enjoyed eating at our table, filling our pancakes with sugar, lemon juice & fruit before reading the incredible story of Mr Wolf’s Pancake.
