Teenagers/adults learning languages:
Speaking aloud in a foreign language can often be particularly scary, for teenagers and adults alike. I aim to create a relaxed atmosphere to encourage trial and error and consequently progress! If learning English, I am able to teach in Italian and French to aid explanations too. Through a range of activities, exercises, games and conversations, targeted to the individual’s interests, I can improve confidence and enthusiasm for language. Repetition, repetition, repetition!

Parents of primary aged children : class sizes are increasing and it can sometimes be hard for children to ‘keep up’. The advantage of a tutor is that your child will receive the individual help he or she needs without fear of being teased or overlooked. I can work on their school units, help with homework, or focus on a particular area of learning, at all times aiming to build greater confidence. I have experience of working with children from 4-16.

Teaching methods:
I am currently offering sessions via Zoom, benefiting from a wide range of online activities and teaching options available.
When restrictions are lifted, I can travel to your home to tutor your child or children. I’m based in Tarvin but can travel within the Chester area (within reason – an additional petrol charge may be required*).
I always use an initial session to assess requirements and best learning methods to suit the individual. Known for being very patient, calm and friendly, I can put the learner at ease and provide tailor-made tuition.

My name is Philippa Rae. I’m a qualified primary school teacher with more than 10 years’ experience of teaching in a classroom in London and teaching international students.

I have recently moved to Cheshire and taken up tutoring, with the aim of helping children and adults with primary subjects and languages.

I offer all primary based subjects (ie. to suit ages 4-11), such as English, Maths, History, Geography, RE.

I also teach French and Italian up to GCSE level, English as an additional language and Mindfulness techniques.
