English Shotokan Karate Association’s very own Oliver De Silva has retained his World Kata Champion status by taking the Gold Medal in 16-17 year old category at the World Karate Championships in Romania.
Well done Oliver, what a fantastic achievement.

On Sunday 12th July, ESKA will host its Summer Kumite Competition.

Unlike our inaugural October Championships, this event is for kumite only and for Juniors and Cadets only and is billed to be a fantastic day, where students get a chance to demonstrate their Kumite skills on the Tatami.

A reminder to all participants and supporting families our start time will be 10:30 with the first bouts starting at 10:45.

We are pleased to announce we have 80 participants from 14 clubs across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Essex and Cambridgeshire.

We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday and the association would like to wish all participants the very best of luck on the day.

We are very proud to announce that one of our chief Instructors Sensei Paul Raymond (7th Dan) has been recognised in the Kings New Years honours list, and has been awarded a Member of the British Empire MBE for his services to The English Shotokan Karate Association (Southeast, Dunmow and Essex)
Congratulations Sensei, a very well deserved recognition.

On Friday we held our final session of 2025.
It’s has been one of the busiest years since we started. All students have worked and trained so hard getting ready for 4 Kyu gradings, 2 Dan gradings and a competition which we excelled at.
Friday was a chance for us to all come together in celebration of an awesome 2025.
Presentation of grading certificates, participation medals, Christmas goodies and our Student of the Year awards.
This year our awards were presented to

Olivia Pack - Junior Student of the year from our first lesson

Ayisha Catton - Junior Student of the year from our second lesson

Filip Tomczyk - Cadet Student of the year

All have worked tremendously hard throughout the year and shown great dedication in the pursuit of excellence.

Well done to all out students and their families for making this such a successful year for Takeley & Little Canfield Karate Club

Last night we celebrated the achievements of Emily Dalton and Blaz Lelov at the English Shotokan Karate Association Annual awards evening.

Both awarded their Shodan (1st Dan) award following their Dan grading in May this year 🥋👊

Emily Dalton was also awarded her Instructor award having passed her Instructor assessment a few weeks ago.

You have both worked so hard and your achievements are thoroughly deserved.
