IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
Our Fri-yay youth club has been running now for 7 years. During that time we have seen young people grow and change and the world around them totally transform. We know and understand the every day difficulties young people face and how tricky growing up can be.
We have always been honest and upfront about any challenges we face and we value enormously our Fri-yay family.
Last night we had a rubbish night, both clubs were incredibly difficult with some really unkind behaviour at Fri-yay 1 and then a whole load of anti social issues at F2.
At F2 one of the biggest challenges we had last night was groups of young people not listening and respecting the โno returnโ rule. If you access our youth club, you can leave at any point but cannot come back in. The reasons for this are clear, historically we have had a number of antisocial behaviour issues in the community and young people running back to avoid any fallout, this isnโt fair on the community our neighbours or us. The other is safety, if you tell parents you are with us, you need to be with us.
The majority of our fri-yayers just want to come out, have fun and socialise with friends and nights like last night are not fair on those people, itโs unsettling and not pleasant.
We absolutely love working with our young friends and we are 100% committed to supporting them. Youth work isnโt easy all the time, quite the opposite, and we donโt shirk away from the many challenges it brings. But it requires a mutual respect, trust and understanding of our boundaries.
We will be taking a breather next Friday from both Fri-yay 1&2 to do some targeted youth work. We will be back the following week.
In addition to that we have a limited offer next week due to staff illness and availability, so no hangout on Monday and Wednesday next week.
Thanks to parents and young people for their continued support and understanding. ๐๐
