What’s the Difference?

This is a question I hear from so many students, so let’s break it down simply.

🖤 Gel Polish
•Thin, flexible product.
•Applied like a polish in layers.
•Great for natural nails or those wanting colour without added strength.
•Lasts around 2–3 weeks.

🖤 Builder Gel
•Thicker, stronger formula.
•Can be used to build structure and add strength to weaker nails.
•Perfect for creating a smooth apex and longer-lasting wear.
•Can be worn alone, with colour, or even for overlays and short extensions.

👉 The key difference? Gel polish adds colour and shine, while builder gel adds strength and structure.

If I had to qualify as a beginner nail tech all over again, here’s exactly what I’d do differently 👇

🕵️‍♀️ 1. Research course options like mad
Not all courses are equal. Look for one that teaches real application, builder gel structure, and business strategy, not just a certificate.
⠀
🗣 2. Talk to the educator
Message them. Listen to how they speak. Do they feel approachable? Invested? Or like they just want your money?
⠀
💅 3. Make sure they’re still in the industry
Are they still working on clients? Are they up to date with trends + techniques? Or stuck in 2010 methods?
⠀
🔁 4. Ask what happens after you qualify
Do you get support after passing? Are they going to help you build your business or leave you on your own?
⠀
💸 5. Think ROI, not just cost
A course should be an investment, but one you earn back within your first few days. And it should teach you how to price confidently, too.

📈 6. Check if business is included
Skills matter, but so does knowing how to attract clients, create content, price yourself, and build a brand that gets booked.

📦 7. Don’t get sucked into buying a full kit
