Story stones are an extremely helpful way of engaging students who have special education needs in the benefits of storytelling. By inviting pupils to choose and place stones, they help non-verbal or pre-writing pupils to create pieces of work.
Below is an example of how a student was able to sequence the story of 'The 'Stone Age Boy' and retell it using his own words which showed a great understanding of what he read. 📖 🌟

Incredible progress made by a student who I supported for 6 months while he waited on a school place. His perseverance and attitude he showed towards his learning was admirable. 🥰 We focused on letter formation followed by adding detail to sentences by using adjectives/verbs and extending sentences using conjunctions.

Using visual resources is a superb way to engage students and help them understand a range of mathematical concepts.

I have loved the opportunity of supporting my lovely tutees.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ They have shown such a superb attitude and mindset towards their learning- it has been a pleasure to see their progress. Highly recommend 'Descriptionary' for teaching creative writing. Here is an example from a fabulous student who chose effective vocabulary to describe an alien and brought the character to life using a 'Text to Image App' . 👽⭐⭐⭐

Today, we used numicon to convert improper fractions to mixed numbers. 👏

Using numicon to help with times tables, visual number representations to help with column addition and making Ronan Numerals using straws.
