Y12 Biology trip - Day 3 🏝️🏔️👩🏼‍⚕️👨🏾‍⚕️🦀

Yesterday, students spent the morning at Whitby Abbey before going to Boggle Hole to plan and do an investigation into the effect of biotic and/or abiotic factors on the growth and size of limpets 🌊.
Students then spent the afternoon in Whitby, where they went to the Whitby museum learning more about evolution and natural selection through fossil evidence🦴.

To celebrate the end of the Y12 Biology trip, students were each given a handmade award🥇and a SeaLife centre pen 🖊️from Mr Bell, Miss Fitch, and Miss Dobson in an impromptu award ceremony.

Some of the awards included:

⭐️ ‘HCWF Crabby Award’ (Hermit Crab Wrestling Federation) for bizarrely only finding groups of hermit crabs that were fighting the whole trip.
⭐️ ‘the David Attenborough award’ for excellent biology knowledge, enthusiasm, and participation.

Y7 student Jack Miller took part in the National Inline Hockey Tournament at the weekend. It was the top 3 teams from South, North and Central.
He played brilliantly and scored a goal while playing in a new position - defence!

Well done Jack, this is amazing! A huge congratulations from Mr Day and all of the PE team here at Swinton. 🎉
