The GPAdvCert in Small Animal Orthopaedic Surgery brings learners into a real training environment where technique, precision, and confidence grow with every session.

Thanks to the support of B. Braun, our candidates train using professional‑grade surgical instruments, gaining the precision, confidence, and hands‑on experience they need to perform complex procedures in real clinical settings.

From mastering delicate neurosurgical techniques to understanding the feel of high‑quality tools, these sessions show exactly what practice‑ready education looks like. These hands‑on moments help our learners build confidence, refine technique, and prepare for real clinical challenges.

We spoke with Eva Rocha VET MRCVS about her experience on the Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery Certificate Programme.

For Eva, it’s been about growing confidence and feeling more assured in her surgical work. The hands-on nature of the programme has helped her refine techniques and approach cases with a clearer sense of how to move forward.

Being able to take what she’s learned and apply it in practice has made a real difference day to day - not just in skills, but in how she feels in the operating theatre.

“Now that I have proper knowledge, I feel more confident to talk to owners and colleagues.”

Meet Archie, a 9-year-old Miniature Schnauzer who presents with a complex mix of obesity, suspected pancreatitis, urinary stones, ongoing gastrointestinal signs, and neurological episodes still under investigation. Individually, these are familiar presentations in general practice. Together, they start to look very different.

When every condition pulls the diet in a different direction, where do you even begin?

We’ve put Archie’s case together to take you through how this kind of nutritional challenge is worked through in practice and how you can benefit from additional nutrition CPD.
