Today we are celebrating another excellent set of GCSE results at The Deanery Church of England Academy.
✅ 72% of students achieved Grade 4+ in both English and Maths
✅ 48% achieved Grade 5+ in both English and Maths
✅ Results set to be above the national average for the second consecutive year

Year 9 Show Their Community Spirit!
A huge well done to our Year 9 students, who demonstrated fantastic community spirit on the last day of the school year by organising and taking part in a charity football match in support of Alzheimer’s Research UK.
The event brought students together for a great cause, showcasing teamwork, leadership, and a desire to make a positive difference in the wider community. It was wonderful to see so many students getting involved, enjoying the game, and raising awareness for such an important charity.
We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the values they have shown. Well done, Year 9!

Zanzibar Day 6 - Cultural Arts Centre, Slave Market and Mama Abla's.

After our specially requested pancakes for breakfast, we headed out into Stone Town to spend the morning at the Cultural Arts Centre, a scheme to support, upskill snd inspire local artists using all recycled resources. From turtles made from glass bottles, bracelets from pringle cans to note books from recycled paper, everything here supports both the environment, and the local people.

Although none of our female teachers spoke fluent English, we communicated through our broken Swahili and gentle smiles which allowed us all to work together to produce our very own note books. The group was quietest it has been the entire trip as everyone enjoyed the peace and beauty of the art project.

We then headed back for lunch and a shopping trip. Walking past so many shops over the past few days has made the group eager to spend some shillings on souvenirs.

This afternoon we are heading to the old slave market to learn more about the country's history, and this evening to Mama Abla's house who is making us a home cooked dinner... we are very excited!

With the term ending for the summer, our adventure posts will also be pausing for the holidays. We look forward to sending out a trip summary in September! Parents please check your emails each evening for continued updates :)
