There’s a reason I created the Genius Gang.

When I wrote these six children, I wasn’t trying to create six different personalities.

I was trying to capture something I see in children every day.

No two children think alike.

No two children solve problems in the same way.

And that’s exactly how it’s meant to be.

Over the coming weeks, I’d love to introduce you to each member of the Genius Gang and the unique strengths they bring.

It’s a beautiful sunny Wednesday.

Watching children laugh and play today reminded me of something we often overlook.

The biggest lessons in childhood rarely come from the big moments.

They come from the tiny ones.

The Lego tower that keeps falling.
The friend who says “no.”
The drawing that doesn’t turn out how they imagined.
The cupcake that doesn’t rise.
The idea that doesn’t work… yet.

Most adults see these as small problems.

But children experience them as real challenges.

Those tiny moments become opportunities to build resilience, confidence, creativity and courage—if we help them respond in the right way.

That’s why I wrote From Lemons to Legends.

Because every child will face lemons.

The goal isn’t to remove every problem from their path.

It’s to help them become the kind of person who can turn problems into possibilities.

That’s how legends are built.

I found myself asking a question that I haven’t been able to shake ever since.

What if we’re celebrating the wrong milestones?

Not because grades, medals and trophies don’t matter—they absolutely do.

But because they aren’t the only moments that deserve applause.

What about the child who found the courage to speak in front of a group for the first time?

The child who kept going after making a mistake.

The child who chose integrity over popularity.

The child who quietly became a leader.

The child who encouraged someone else when nobody was watching.

Those are the moments that shape a child’s future.

Yet they’re often the moments that pass unnoticed.

At Little Bosses Academy, entrepreneurship has never been the destination.

It’s simply the vehicle.

We use business to help children discover confidence, responsibility, resilience, leadership and courage—qualities they’ll carry with them long after they’ve forgotten what they sold or how much profit they made.

That realisation has led us to something much bigger than a camp.

It has led us to create the Little Bosses Awards.

Not because children need another trophy.

But because we believe who a child is becoming deserves to be celebrated just as much as what they achieve.

If we can change what we celebrate, perhaps we can also change what children aspire to become.

People often ask me why I created Barry.

The answer has very little to do with teddy bears.

It has everything to do with how children learn.

Children don’t only learn through lessons. They learn through relationships, routines, symbols and experiences that stay with them long after the day is over.

That’s why nothing about Barry is accidental.

Every detail was designed with intention because every detail communicates something. Even his name carries meaning.

In a world where so much of childhood is designed to entertain, I wanted to create something that would reinforce values instead.

Not just for a day.

Not just for a programme.

But for the memories children carry into adulthood.

Barry has never been “just a mascot.”

He’s a reminder that childhood deserves intentionality, and that the smallest details can leave the deepest impressions.

✨The Little Boss Tour✨

At the end of every Boss Camp, Barry, the Little Bosses Academy mascot, visits each child at home for one final moment of celebration. It isn’t simply a chance to deliver a gift; it’s an intentional part of the learning journey and a reflection of what we believe about child development.

Throughout Boss Camp, our children are trusted with real responsibility. They solve problems, serve customers, make decisions and contribute to something bigger than themselves. In doing so, they develop the qualities at the heart of our STEWARD framework: the self-belief to step forward, the willingness to try, the adaptability to overcome challenges, the responsibility to lead well and the drive to keep going when something feels difficult.

Too often, childhood moves so quickly that children rush on to the next experience without ever stopping to recognise how much they’ve grown. The Little Boss Tour creates that pause. It gives every child a moment that’s entirely theirs—a moment to reflect, to be recognised and to know that their growth was seen.

Because when children repeatedly experience responsibility, reflect on their growth and know that someone genuinely noticed it, they begin to build something far more lasting than confidence.

They begin to build character.

And character is what enables children not only to succeed in business, but to navigate life with courage, wisdom and integrity.

That’s what the Little Boss Tour by has always been about.

Real confidence isn’t built by praise alone.

It’s built through responsibility. Challenge. Experience. Achievement.

That’s what Boss Camp is designed to do.

But when children have worked hard, stepped outside their comfort zone and discovered what they’re capable of, we believe something else matters too…

Recognition.

Not because recognition creates confidence.

Because it reinforces the confidence they’ve already earned.

That’s why Barry knocked on every child’s door.

To remind every Little Boss that their growth hadn’t gone unnoticed.

Because every child deserves to know:

We saw your courage. We saw your effort. We saw your growth.

And sometimes, one intentional moment of recognition is enough to become a memory a child carries for years.
