The aim of The BWCA syllabus is to enable window cleaners grow their businesses and reach the top end of their chosen sector.

This week, Ivan Shaw of Reach Pro UK successfully delivered his first BWCA Soft Washing practical course at the Falkirk training facility.

A BWCA practical training partner, Ivan brings more than 20 years of experience in window cleaning, soft washing and roof cleaning. His practical knowledge helps new and experienced exterior cleaning professionals develop their skills and confidence.

BWCA Practical Training in Scotland

Through its partnership with Ivan and Reach Pro UK, BWCA can now provide recognised practical training for exterior cleaning professionals across Scotland.

Based in Falkirk, Ivan delivers practical training in:

• WFP2 – Getting the Best from Waterfed Poles
• SW5 – Soft Washing
• RW7 – Roof Cleaning
• RS8 – Roof Sealant Application

This gives contractors in Scotland access to professional BWCA training without having to travel to the main BWCA training centre in Swindon.

Ivan and Reach Pro UK also provide access to professional Ionic Systems equipment, product advice, technical support and equipment-hire options.

Raising Professional Standards

Ivan’s first Soft Washing course represents another positive step in BWCA’s commitment to raising professional standards across the exterior cleaning industry.

After successfully completing the online and practical elements of the Soft Washing course, candidates receive BWCA certification and become BWCA Approved Soft Wash Operatives.

We congratulate Ivan on successfully delivering his first course and thank him for supporting exterior cleaning professionals throughout Scotland.

BWCA October 2026 Practical Training

BWCA practical training will be available at both Falkirk and Swindon during October 2026.

Candidates can attend individual courses or combine morning and afternoon sessions to complete two courses in one day.

Incidents like this are a stark reminder that electrical hazards remain one of the biggest risks facing our industry. Before starting any job, carry out a proper risk assessment and document it, identify overhead power lines, and consider whether your equipment could come within striking distance of a high voltage power line.

The British Window Cleaning Academy is delighted to welcome Ivan Shaw as our new Scotland-based trainer operating from Falkirk.

Ivan brings over 20 years of hands-on experience and industry knowledge to the BWCA, with a strong background in professional exterior cleaning and a passion for raising industry standards across the industry.

Based in Falkirk, Ivan will be delivering practical hands-on training for the BWCA Waterfed Pole Course, Soft Washing Course, and Roof Care Courses, helping both new and experienced cleaning professionals develop their skills using modern cleaning techniques and industry-leading equipment from Ionic Systems Ltd.
All BWCA courses combine online E-learning theory completed prior to attendance, followed by practical hands-on training designed to build confidence, improve safety awareness, and develop professional working techniques in real-world applications.
Practical training courses in Scotland will commence from June 2026, with online booking available through www.bwca.co.uk.
