🤓 When your student brings out the calculator to explain why they couldn't practice...

"Well actually, Miss Sarah, if you look at the mathematical breakdown of my week..."

📊 The Weekly Minutes Breakdown:
• Total minutes in a week: 10,080
• Sleep (because growing brains need rest): -2,400
• School/work (learning other important stuff): -2,400
• Eating (fuel for those fingers): -1,300
• Screen time (we're being realistic here): -1,000
• Chores (character building, apparently): -500
Remaining practice time: 2,480 minutes!

That's over 40 hours! Surely we can squeeze in 15 minutes of piano practice? 😉

But here's the thing - we get it! Life is busy, and sometimes the piano has to wait. What matters is that when you do sit down to play, you're enjoying every moment of it.

🎹 Music isn't just a subject to master - it's a lifelong companion 🎹

Think about it: music stays with us through every chapter of our lives. It celebrates our victories, comforts us in difficult times, and gives us a voice when words aren't enough.

When we teach piano, we're not just preparing students for their next exam tick-box. We're nurturing something far more precious - a genuine love affair with music that will enrich their entire lives.

Here's the thing about rushing through grades: it's like giving a child only three books to read all year and expecting them to fall in love with reading. How would they feel after nine months of the same material? How much would their vocabulary actually grow?

The magic happens in the journey, not the destination.

Some of our students thrive with exams as milestones, others flourish without them. What matters is building the technical skills, musical understanding, and emotional connection that makes playing piano a joy, not a chore.

Because when we focus on the whole musician rather than just the next grade, we create students who don't ask "When can I quit?" but instead say "What can I learn next?"

HERE IT IS! THE SWINDON SHUFFLE 2026 20th ANNIVERSARY LINE-UP!

As expected, our 20th year has been a bit of a monster and it has been a lot of work to pull together what is the longest Shuffle ever, so apologies for the lateness of this announcement.

But, here we are, our 20th anniversary line-up. You will notice we have expanded the event to a full week now, with the Music Quiz launching things on Monday 7th at The Beehive Swindon , followed by the always amazing Jazz Knights session on Tuesday at event newcomer The Royal Oak Old Town . We then present a incredible extra night of music on Wednesday at The Pulpit with The Lost Trades playing a very special set for us.

Then, Thursday through to Sunday it is more familiar as we hit our stride at The Hop Inn, The Pulpit, The Victoria , The Castle Old Town Swindon and The Beehive as normal. Plus we have extra fringe events at Rudi's Bar, Sonnys, Prospect Hospice - Books and Media and a chill out ambient session at The Hop.

Event pages with breakdowns will be up soon, but if you cant wait to plan fully, visit one of the venues over the weekend. Or alternatively, come and see us at the Street Food Festival on Sunday on Wood Street and pick up a guide with clash-finder. We will have a stage with some great music from 1pm until 5pm, along with some new T-Shirt designs and tote bags!

Finally, don't forget, it is our regular music quiz this Sunday from 5.30 at The Hop - bank holiday ones are always a lot of fun!

Our colourful overlays are a game changer for students with Visual Stress—those tricky moments when words on the page seem to jump, blur, or even change colour. Visual Stress isn’t the same as dyslexia but often goes hand in hand, showing up as headaches, tired eyes, and letters that just won’t behave.

Coloured overlays or filters can make reading smoother, comfier, and a lot less tiring. It’s all about finding the colour that helps the words “just click.”
