Last week was another busy and positive week at Westlea School.

We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils, who have been working so hard in their preparation for SATs this week. We wish them all the best of luck and hope they are enjoying their special breakfast this week. 👏

📚 A huge thank you to all the parents and families who came along to the Book Fair last week. We managed to raise a whopping £863.91! This will help towards purchasing new resources for the school. Thank you for your continued support.

We have many more exciting trips planned in the coming weeks, and we would like to thank all of our staff for the time and care they put into organising these valuable experiences for our pupils.

Westlea School Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

We had a fantastic week at school last week. The sunshine made playtimes especially happy, with lots of creative games happening across the playground. ☀️

📚📖 We also had a brilliant World Book Day on Thursday. Thank you to all our parents, carers and staff for embracing the spirit of the day; our corridors were filled with wonderful characters, and the children loved trying to guess who everyone was! 📚📖

Attendance has been a real positive this week. On a couple of days, we reached the national average for attendance, and on one day we even exceeded it. Strong attendance makes a huge difference to our children's outcomes. Our teachers are working incredibly hard to close gaps in learning, and strong, consistent attendance is essential in helping children make good progress. 👍

Year 3 and Year 4 parents/carers are welcome to join us for the Celebration Assembly this Friday, 13th March to celebrate whole school learning and achievement. (Please arrive at 2.40 p.m.)

🎶✨ Westlea School Newsletter Highlights ✨🎶

We had a fantastic week at Westlea last week with some truly special moments to celebrate! 💙

🎤 Young Voices Concert – Birmingham NEC
On Tuesday, our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils travelled to the BP Pulse Live Arena to take part in the incredible Young Voices concert. After an afternoon of rehearsals, they performed in the evening alongside around 5,000 other children! 🎵🕺
It was a joyful, unforgettable experience and one that will stay with them for years to come. 🌟

👏 A huge thank you to:
Parents and carers who supported the trip and attended the concert 🚍🎟️
Our amazing staff who rehearsed with the children for months 🎶
Staff who gave up their evening to accompany the trip 💫
A late night, but absolutely worth it!

📊 Supporting Every Child
This week also saw our termly Pupil Progress Meetings, where senior leaders and teachers reviewed the progress of every child, ensuring support is in place where needed and that all pupils continue to thrive. 📚💬

We would like to thank all our families for their continued support throughout a wonderful busy term. As the holidays begin, we wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable break, and for those who celebrate, a very happy Christmas filled with joy.

We look forward to welcoming our pupils back to school on Tuesday, 6th January.

Please note that Monday, 5th January is a TD Day and the school will be closed to all pupils.

We hope everyone had a relaxing break and is feeling refreshed and ready for another exciting term ahead! 😄✨ It’s been so lovely to see our children return with such energy, enthusiasm, and positivity. From our younger pupils exploring phonics 📖 to the wonderful singing 🎶 coming from Key Stage 2, it’s clear that the learning and creativity are already in full swing! 💪📚

We’re so proud of how everyone has settled back in and can’t wait to see all the amazing achievements and memories we’ll create together this term. 💛 Let’s make it a term filled with growth, laughter, and plenty of learning! 🌈

Our team represented the school brilliantly at the local inter-school competition — great teamwork and sportsmanship all round!
