A week full of fun, learning and celebrations!
We've been busy exploring and creating through play - from a lovely Mother's Day tuff tray, to St Patrick's Day activities, celebrating Eid with beautiful art and sensory play and lots of smiles for Red Nose Day.
So many special moments and hands-on learning experiences this week - we loved every minute!

πβ¨ Last week we had so much fun celebrating World Book Day! β¨π
Each room enjoyed their own book-themed day, with wonderful themes including Bananas in Pyjamas and The Cat in the Hat. The children had a fantastic time immersing themselves in stories and celebrating the joy of books together. ππ©
At our nursery, reading plays a very important role in the Montessori philosophy. Through books and storytelling, children develop language, imagination, concentration and a love for learning that supports their development in so many areas.
We love creating opportunities for our little learners to discover just how magical stories can be. ππ

π΄β¨ Happy St Davidβs Day! β¨π΄
Our little learners loved celebrating by exploring books about Wales, creating beautiful daffodil arts and crafts, and learning all about the Welsh flag. πΌππ΄
It was a wonderful way to introduce children to Welsh culture and traditions through fun, hands-on activities! πβ€οΈπ

πβ¨ We had the best time celebrating Mental Health Week with our little learners! β¨π
From our relaxing SPA Day to our calming sensory spa in the Baby Room, the children learned just how important it is to slow down, care for themselves, and look after their wellbeing. π§ββοΈπ
We also explored different emotions through fun tuff tray activities, helping everyone recognise, understand, and talk about how they feel. ππ’π‘π
Why not try some emotion-matching games at home to continue these conversations and support your childβs emotional development? π‘π¬

𧽠Transferring With a Sponge
π Look at one of our younger children transferring water between two bowls with a sponge. She carefully places the sponge in on bowl of water and then squeezes it out into the other bowl!
π Did you know...? Not only does this activity support hand control and strength, but also introduces an early scientific concept- absorption. All through real, purposeful work!
π Try at Home: This is a great easy-to-set-up activity- grab two bowls and a sponge for a little water play that doubles as a science lesson! π§¬π§ͺ

π Grace & Courtesy: Good Morning Greeting π
π Look at teddy saying "Good Morning" to his friends! During group times, we have been practicing saying polite morning greetings to each other with our teddy π§Έ
π Did you know...? In the Montessori method, grace and courtesy is an explicit teaching of social norms, manners, and respectful behaviour which helps children to interact harmoniously with others and their environment.
π Try at Home: Try role playing social phrases and manners with your child using their favourite soft toys or puppets. A "please" and "thank you" from their favourite character goes a long way!

π« Dry Pouring
π Look at this beautiful pouring work with flower beads! πΈ Dry pouring is one of the first activities in the practical life sequence- an activity that our children love doing here at Inquisitive Minds.
π Did you know...? Pouring beads (or other dry items) between jugs teaches control and focus. Children are able to build concentration, balance and hand steadiness in a meaningful and practical way... next step, pouring water! π§
π Try at Home: Invite your child to help in the kitchen while you're cooking or baking π©πΌβπ³ Show them how you pour the ingredients from the jug to the bowl and then invite them to have a turn!
