Our learners have been making the most of the fresh air and snippets of sunshine this week!

Whether it’s getting up close with nature’s locals or getting creative with leaf painting in the woods, there’s nothing like the great outdoors to spark a love for learning.

​Why we take the classroom outside:

At our Alternative Provision, we know that a traditional desk isn't always where the best learning happens.

Moving outdoors offers:
​Improved Wellbeing: Nature is a natural stress-reliever and helps our learners feel regulated and calm.

​Confidence & Independence: Exploring the natural world builds resilience and problem-solving skills in a hands-on way.

​Sensory Engagement: From the rustle of leaves to the colors of spring, it’s a full-sensory experience that makes lessons stick!

​By providing a flexible, nature-led environment, we give our young people the space they need to grow at their own pace.

One of our learners has been busy exploring the local flora today!

Check out this fantastic botanical work. They found the first signs of spring, identifying everything from purple anemones to variegated ivy.

By documenting these finds, the learner is developing great observational skills and a deeper connection to the environment.

​Our outdoor learning sessions provide the perfect space for this kind of hands on discovery. It is brilliant to see the seasonal changes being captured so clearly.

🍄 "Never look down, always look around..."

​One of our fantastic Outdoor Learning team members recently shared this bit of wisdom:
​"Never look down, always look around; great mysterious mushrooms are all growing and wanting to be found."

​Even in the depths of winter, the woodland is alive! While most plants are dormant, these "mysterious mushrooms" are busy recycling old wood and showing off their vibrant colours!

It was one of those perfect November days at Stanton Park today! 🦢

Look at that sun just glistening right across the lake!

​We absolutely love being able to bring our outdoor learning students here. It's such a wonderful spot for them to just slow down, enjoy nature, get hands-on with some outdoor skills, and be totally surrounded by that beautiful forest air.

At Swindon Tuition Centre, our Dream Wild Outdoor Learning programme takes education beyond the classroom, helping children build confidence, resilience and a love of nature through hands-on adventure learning!

Our sessions encourage:
Team building & social interaction
Fire-lighting & outdoor cooking
Woodland games, den building & tool use
Creative thinking, concentration & communication skills

We partner with schools, PRUs and EOTAS providers to deliver enriching outdoor sessions, either as regular lessons or one-off experience days.

Plus, students can even earn AQA Unit Award Scheme certificates in Bushcraft, Woodland Crafts and Tool Use in the Woods!

Being outdoors boosts wellbeing, independence and engagement, especially for young people who thrive with practical, nature-based learning.
