This week, TPAT is delighted to celebrate 20 years of both Orchid Vale Primary School and Red Oaks Primary School.
Twenty years ago, these schools were just an idea taking shape on what were then open fields. Today, they sit at the heart of their communities, having provided almost 3,800 school days of learning and opportunity for thousands of children and families. While the British weather unfortunately interrupted the community picnic planned for the afternoon, it certainly did not stop the celebrations.
We brought every class together for a whole-school anniversary assembly, creating a wonderful opportunity for the entire community to celebrate as one, finishing the day off with every child joining together to sing You've Got the Power in You, with flags waving proudly in every hand. It was a powerful moment of unity, pride and joy, and a fitting way to mark this important milestone.
The celebrations also provided an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable journey of Orchid Vale and Red Oaks, from the first pupils through the gates to the generations of young people who have gone on to make their mark on the world. As we reflected with pupils, we were reminded that while schools begin with bricks and mortar, their true legacy is built through the lives they touch and the opportunities they create.
A particularly special moment was recognising members of staff who have been part of the schools' entire 20-year journey including the leaders and staff who got the schools going in their first years. Their dedication, care and commitment have helped shape the culture, character and success of both schools. To serve one school community for two decades is an extraordinary achievement, and we were proud to celebrate their contribution.
Thank you to our CEO, Headteacher at Orchid Vale and Headteacher at Red Oaks, for helping lead the celebrations, and to the many pupils, families, governors, trustees and staff, past and present, who have written the story of these two remarkable schools.
Here's to many more chapters still to come. -InspiringFuturesEmpowerPeople
